i am a white female too, also for engineering and i havent received anything either

I got one this afternoon. (an actual letter, not an email)
It basically says I’m very likely to be admitted to Cornell and then invited me to the Prospective Candidates Weekend.
The letter’s dated March 10 so there might be some delay with snail mail.

[And yes I’m a white female]

I got an email from Human Ecology inviting me to Cornell Days Diversity Hosting and saying that I’ll get a letter about it in the mail. I’m a minority and not sure if it’s really a likely letter…I hope so :)

i got a likely letter today from the society of women engineers for prospective candidates’ weekend (caucasian female)

Is this likely letter only sent out to URMs? So even if a Harvard caliber white male engineer applied to Cornell, he wouldnt get the likely letter even though he is basically guaranteed to get in?

Mine says:

"I am writing to let you know how much the Cornell Engineering Admissions Committee enjoyed reading your application. Your academic and personal achievements are outstanding and, although the Ivy league schools won’t notify students of their admission decisions until the end of the month, it may help with your planning to know that you are very likely to be admitted to Cornell. "

Which school did you apply to?

i got one too! i’m so freaking excited!

Just got one.

"This special invitation is extended to you because of your strong academic and personal record and because you will be admitted to Cornell University’s Class of 2014. "

SOOO happy :D

^^ ahh so lucky!
i wish i was a minority lol.

Were the Society of Women Engineer letters sent through mail or email?

Through the snail mail. My D got hers on Saturday.

just got mine from the Society of Women Engineers
snail mail!

How many likely letters does Cornell send out?

My daughter (Asian) received a letter dated 03-10-10 from College of Engineering saying You are very likely to be admitted to Cornell. Society of Women Engineers invites her to attend Prospective Candidates Weekend on April 16 & 17. No info about expense.

i got a likely letter too as a female engineer, but im kind of confused because it seems like SO many people got them. did they send them to all accepted female engineers??

I got one of the SWE letters too (Asian female). I’m so ridiculously excited :)

I received a likely letter from the College of Engineering. I did not, however, receive an invitation to visit Cornell or anything. I am a male and not a minority. So sad!

Despite what seems like a high number of letters given based on CC data, there is in fact probably only 40 or so letters for this event given, definitely not every female engineer.

And the cost is free, if I’m not mistaken, @az2010

My D tried to register for the Diversity Hosting Weekend today and was told it was full! SHe is really bummed because she really wanted to attend. And, she has called there the last 3 days to get some info before sending in the form becuase of some travel issues since Cornell was taking care of the flights. Had she known she would lose her spot by trying to get info, would have made her submit it last Saturday! Now she is told it is full even if we pay for her airfare.

Now she may just end up attending the SWE event for which she also got an invitation. The frustrating thing is we are 4 hour flight away. We cannot make plane reservations without schedule information and none of that is available either–other than just dates but no schedule.

Its hard to imagine this is full after just 4 days…and the SWE letter arrived yesterday.
