is this a manageable junior year work load?

My sophmore year is almost over and I really need a strong junior year schedule since they say it's the most important year. My freshman and sophmore weighted gpa combined will be around a 3.3 with only 2 honors classes my sophmore year. I am a generally good student but lazy and now I'm scared to see what the future will look like. So far my schedule will look like it is below and all my friends are telling me it's going to be a nightmare and I'm screwed but I'm determined to work hard to get out of here. So:

AP Stats
Honors Survey of American Literature
Honors Chemistry
Honors Algebra 2
APUSH

Those are all my core classes but with FBLA club, varsity ice hockey, mu alpha theta (possibly) and junior class president (possibly) along side a job and community service, do you think this will be manageable for me?

We don’t know you, how would we know? It’s not a particularly hard schedule. What colleges are you aiming for?

It really depends on your school. At my school for instance, outside of AP calc apush and honors Chem are the most difficult classes in the entire school while AP stats is seen as an “easy AP.” but that’s just my school. I would suggest talking to people who have taken those courses already and ask them about the amount of time involved (ask a couple people and guage how long it will take you in comparison) and decide ifyou think you can handle everything. Don’t take on too much though. Good luck!

As said above, it really depends on the school. AP classes can vary so much from school to school on how their taught, you really have to ask around. For instance, AP stat is considered harder than AP calc at our school, which is the opposite of what it usually is.

But, as I’m just finishing up junior year, I can tell you yes it is the most important, but you’re going to want to do more things non-school related than before. Junior year is when most kids can start to drive and you’ll want to hang out with friends more etc. I was able to handle a much more difficult load than that this year, so it really is up to you, you’re the only one who knows how hard you can work. Be wary of the side job though, I think my second semester grades will be lower than what they should be because of that.
