basically acted as the mayor
worked in the city hall for a day.
city employees called me mayor.
then we had a televised city meeting.

<p>oh. well it was the city's 100th year since it was established.
and so. the city decided to hold a special elections for the next generation of citizen.
and you have to be nominated by someone in the city.
so i was nominated by the mayor because she knows me.
so then there was a mock election at our city
and turns out i won.

<p>was the mock election fixed? because if not then it means you were actually elected. pretty interesting to put on a resume, although not the greatest thing.</p>
<p>It definitly has possibility. I would say that it is a hook at some colleges. It all depends on who is reviewing your application. That is cool though.</p>
<p>I don't think it's a "hook" persay (a hook is something like a URM, from an underrepresented area, possible Div. I athlete, etc.) but like any other original award, it definitely deserves a spot on your application. If you're looking to go into politics, it would it be a good thing to write an essay on; very original.</p>

Well, I think i am from an underrepresented area, as in city, otherwise i wouldn't be. my city is very small, everyone knows everyone, so I'm gusssing that helps? Maybe?
Also, I was very stoked when I was elected because I actually want to enter politics. I want to use political science to attend law school, then use law as a stepping stone towards running for office; preferably senator.
I hope this boys state in the summer will also help me reach my goals.
And I think I will write an essay on my "mayor for a day" experience.</p>

<p>For a day, probably not. My D was elected to the county school board her junior year in HS and held the seat for a year. It was the first such seat in the state, representing the student body on the school board.</p>
