Has anyone visited this school? What does it offer the serious student, (1300+ SAT)? Do many of the graduates get into a decent graduate/law/medical school?

Student comments indicate a lot of beer and a little books, is that what it is like, is that what it will be like in three years?

What does this school offer a serious student? What is the new library like? The faculty looks impressive on paper, how do they perform in the classroom?

My understanding is that LFC has some of the best financial aid around. It is a lovely, small campus in a beautiful, safe suburb of Chicago. There is ample opportunity to take advantage of the city with many visits planned into town. Also, there is a commuter train nearby that could take you downtown.

I visited with my daughters as I had just met some recent grads who loved their experiences at LFC. I suspect that the academics are good, with some very strong faculty. I have met renowned faculty at more "prestigous" schools who were unavailable or even unimpressive as teachers. If you are looking for a small LAC in the midwest, you will want to consider this one. I suspect you will also want to look at schools like Kalamazoo College (loved it), Knox College, and Kenyon College. We liked these quite a bit.

Your next question may be, if you liked these schools, who is attending. Neither. One daughter is looking for a ROTC program which is not available at the smaller schools. The other daughter is looking for a pre-professional Architecture program which is also not available. I think they will each offer something of interest to you and tremendous opportunities to interact with faculty and become the student that you choose to be.

Lake Forest University is a blatant attempt to steal the spotlight from Wake Forest University. You think changing a letter will confuse people? I think not. Haha, jk

I don't think they took the name to fool people into thinking they were going to Wake forest, I think it is the name of the town it is located in.

It has a reputation as a school for rich kids who have been slackers. Collegiate choice sells videos of campus tours. I watched a tape of this school and I just thought it was too quiet, not enough energy. I liked Kenyon better, but I guess their aid isn't as good.

Just so you know, I live in Lake Foest and it is a very boring town. The cops prey on partying teens/college students, as it is their only form of crime in the city.

I have also applied to Lake forest college as an international student applicant. I was impressed by the scholarships and financial aid provides even to International student. Hope the decision will be on my side. Hope your child will also get into LFC Mr. Big.
