is this a stupid choice?

well i want to do engineering in college, first of all. and im gonna be senior in this fall.

to make my app look better, i decided to take ap physics, which is dubbed hardest class in my school..(i dont know why.. but every math/science teacher i had admitted it..) i dont know why they designed the course to be that way.. it ****es me off alot but i have no power.

well however, my plan of taking college course and preparing for it failed cuz of some stupid administrations.. so if i take it, ill struggle to get a D in that class. (prerequisite was completing calc bc.. i could take ap physics while i concurrently take bc but alot of people told me that is freaking hard...)

so, while im still trying to stay in honors track, im thinking of taking ap enviro.. but is this gonna be good choice? will colleges think, stereotypically, im a stupid slacker who doesnt even know how to spell word try?

or should i take other class? please tell me.. more responses are, less my hair will fall outta my head

Did you take AP Calc AB, or are you jumping right to BC? If you’re jumping right to BC, you could still stick with physics, but I highly recommend that you learn derivatives and integrals by yourself. Hippocampus.org has some great calculus tutorials, and the Khan Academy on YouTube does as well.

What you put into the class is what you’ll get. You’re not going to struggle with a D if you put in enough effort.

I don’t understand why it would be that hard? My AP Physics teacher next year is a PhD in Nuclear Physics and people do fine in his class. Depending on if it is both Physics B & C would tell if you really need calculus. If it is Physics C also, then you will need it, but otherwise Calculus isn’t really necessary. I’m taking both Calc BC and Physics B/C my senior year and it should work out fine.

nope i havent taken ab yet… i wish i could ve…well i was in pre calc honors last year. i know how to take derivatives and stuff but i dont know how far i should know in terms of math to pass this class.

well and the course might have been exaggerated by other people who took it before… but the reason im convinced that it’s gonna be hard is because alot of my teachers told me that class is freakin hard that it wont even be worth it to take it…

well but anyway, would it be ok to take enviro? or shud i take something else?

Go with Physics and beat the “talk”. You really shouldn’t need to know much calculus for it and as long as you study you should be fine. Get an AP Physics review book too if you want to be on top of things. I’m sure if the class is considered that hard then the AP test should be a breeze. Good Luck!

well to be honest i dont consider myself that smart enough to break the talk…all the kids who are taking that class are super freakin smart people (they took calc bc in soph year, not jr year which is typical for accelerated kids) with like 4.0s…so i dont know if i can or not

Sounds like you made up your mind already. Don’t take it if you can’t dedicate yourself to it so you can become on par with all the other kids in the class.

If anything you can always switch out of the class lol.
