Is this a typical topic?

I’m applying to Cornell’s Engineering school and I’m stuck with this topic:

Tell us about an engineering idea you have, or about your interest in engineering. Describe how your ideas and interests may be realized by “and linked to” specific resources within the College of Engineering. Finally, explain what a Cornell Engineering education will enable you to accomplish. (Please limit your response to 650 words.)

I wanted to talk about how I’ve always loved creating things, from legos to video games. Would this be a “typical” essay topic?

I’m also wondering the same. I wanted to talk about when I built a computer but I have a feeling it’s too cliche.

The topic itself is overdone, but it’s always possible to put a new spin on an overdone topic. Many people have created and things, and they love doing it, but what about your experiences is unique to your lives and circumstances?

^ thanks. I decided to talk a specific moment that inspired my engineering journey
