Is this an insane idea?

Hey guys I applied to my dream school and waiting to hear back from them. Recently I have thought about emailing the admissions director for this school and basically begging for acceptance. I don't really quite have the grades for this school but I know I have what it takes to be successful at this school and I know a change of scenery are what my grades really need. Could emailing and asking for acceptance work in my favor or will I just come off as too desperate? I feel like I need to get into this school. Its somewhere I've grown up with and I've never seen myself somewhere else.

Thanks for your input guys.

You’ll definitely come off as desperate. I do not recommend doing this. Maybe someone else has a similar experience that can shed some light on this?

If this website is any example, adcoms get this type of plea every year.

Honestly, I believe that people should apply, get their decision and then attend or move on. Begging for special treatment is not a good habit to get into. There may be times when it is called for, like when there’s a medical emergency or some other unavoidable situation. But not just because you really want something and for some reason think that you want it more than anyone else out there.

Insane. If I were an adcom, this kind of plea would work against the application.

If nothing else, the idea that a change of school will automatically guarantee better studying, output and grades shows a kind of magical thinking that points to a lack of personal accountability.

Don’t do it.

A very bad idea. Admissions officers get many such letters. I’ve sen admissions pulled as a result.

Absolutely horrible idea.
