Is this an okay improvement rate?

I just started studying for the SAT this Summer and I have started with Math. My scores improved a lot at first, but now that has slowed down. Is this normal, or should I be worried? Here are my test scores(all from the Blue book):

600
620-680
570-650
670-730
670-730
690-770
660-720

I really want to get a 2300+ come SAT time, and math has always been my worst so I really want it to improve.

You shouldn’t be worried. These scores are actually very good. If you do alot of practice tests one after another you might hit a plateau(a stand still and won’t see much improvement). After you finish a math section,or any section at that) review the ones you got wrong AND what you got right. Make sure you understand why they are right/wrong also. The college board website gives answer explanations to each test in the book online

Thanks for responding!
I have been doing the reviewing of both correct and incorrect answers, through the use of the Collegeboard website. And, if I have plateaued, is there anything that might help me get past it? Perhaps taking a break from math for a while?

Keep up the good work!

The first sat math exam i did in practice i got 520 when i was in grade 9. After 2 years of practice i got 770 in may 2012, and 760 in june 2012. Moral: you can improve if you are willing to study hard. Solving barrons helped me a LOT to get used to solve difficult math questions. Good luck

@madspacecow i do recommend in order to get out of that plateau to take a break from math and work on another section or to just review simple math tips, tricks, formulas and strategies. You don’t want to overload yourself with too much math that you neglect other sections of the SAT

Hey, I’m also a student of '15! And thanks for the encouragement!

Hopefully I can improve like you; I definitely am willing to put in the work. A question though; I have heard from many that Barrons, while very helpful with lower to mid-level questions, does little to help with the harder ones. Would you care to comment a little more about this? Thanks!

Yeah, you make a good point. I definitely will start work on the other sections, beginning with writing tomorrow[I am using this([Complete</a> SAT Grammar Rules](http://thecriticalreader.com/general-grammar-tips/sat-grammar/item/264-complete-sat-grammar-rules.html)) to learn all the grammar rules].

I think its a great thing that you are getting a head start. I’m going to be a senior and wish that I would’ve started preparing much earlier. Are you taking the ACT as well?

Well, I hadn’t really planned on it. I know people suggest to do both and see what you are good at, but, I dunno. I figured I would just focus on the SAT.

The opposite is true. Barrons is excellent for hard questions but not so good for medium question. Because of barrons i can solve any hard math question with ease. Remember this golden rule: if someone said something is good and another said it is bad. You should see it and be the judge.

For math also try Dr. Chungs 50 tips.
The math is slightly harder than SAT math, but when the real test comes along it will be a breeze.
Using dr. Chungs I scored an 800 from a 700.

I actually own Dr. Chung’s because I heard good things. My problem is the tips are not explained too well, but I only looked at the first couple so I guess I’ll keep looking.

And thanks, lovetheself. I guess If I don’t have luck with Chung’s, I’ll go check our Barrons.

I agree the tips are somewhat vague, but the practice tests are spot on.

Alright, thanks for that!

Overall, what do you all think about using books/tests with questions slightly harder than those on the actual SAT? Dr.Chung’s from what I’ve heard, is much harder than actual SAT math section, which is why Xiggi hates it so much.
