I’m planning to write about how a family situation caused me to have to switch schools midway through my freshman year, and how I persevered through this situation and maintained a 4.0 GPA. I was also able to transfer back to my home school a year later. I figured that colleges will see that I transferred 2 times on my transcript and wonder why… So why not explain it in my essay? Is this a good topic to write about?
I’m just a parent with no connection to any college, but personally, I would rather read about how this experience caused you to grow or change, not just that you powered through and got a high GPA. What did you learn? Were there any ways in which it was unexpectedly positive? Will it change or affect your choices going forward? Let the colleges know what is great about you and why they would want you on their campus. They already know you have a 4.0 GPA, but they don’t know what you can offer them.
Thank you!!
