Is this bad news???

I just wanted to know... how bad are these grades? D: Will top 10/top 20 colleges reject me automatically upon seeing them, even if I am able to justify why they're so bad?

These are my predicted grades (predicted by me, so the actual ones will probably be a little higher).

Science 10 Advanced -- 91
Math 11 Advanced -- 78 (I came from a school that didn't teach much math to a school that's all math all the time... so the teacher said he will bump it up, but still... & also I'm in grade 10 taking this course because I skipped a math grade)
English 10 Advanced -- 93
French 10 Advanced -- 94
Music 10 -- 92
Geography 9 -- 95 (I took History 10 last year because math screwed up my schedule... just reversed the 2 credits)
Introductory Physics/Programming course -- 88 (seriously the toughest course I've ever taken... the teacher is notorious for being really challenging & strict; the class avg. is probably in the 60s, so will that count for anything?)

Last year's marks were MUCH better & next year I can guarantee they will be better. The transition to a new school kind of screwed me over, & there was some personal stuff I had to deal with as well. Also, the exams will probably raise my marks. My avg. last year was 95. Next year it will probably be in that area again.

Also, do colleges look at your school profile? My school is easily the toughest in the entire city, & I think it sends at least one person to HYPSM every year. So they would know that, right?

Do you think my grade 10 marks could completely destroy my chances for top 10/top 20 schools? D:

These are the most challenging courses I could take. (I had to take Music instead of Comp Sci because it was filled up before I registered for this school.) How bad will this be? :/

BUMP, please? I would really appreciate any input.

Buuuump? :(

If you keep up your GPA and possibly get it into the high A range, I dot think you’ll have a problem. Colleges definitely look at the difficulty of the school. A B in private school beats an A in some public schools. Also, that’s why they have standardized tests. Work on the academic part, but focus on standing out in other areas as well.

You’re getting mostly grades in the 90’s, so I can’t imagine they would rule you out from any top school, especially if you have something to make you stand out in your application. For the classes where you’re particularly worried about your final grades, consider asking those teachers for in-house recommendations so that your counselor can put in your rec that although your grade might not seem that great (though I think that an 88 is still fine!), you tried hard in the class and were considerably above the average.

Still pretty good!
