I am a freshman in highschool and i have a 3.3 gpa unweighted for the end of year. I want to go to usna, usafa, west point, coast guard academy or virginia military institute. Have i already ruined my chances of getting into any of these schools. Please answer honestly…Thanks
Honestly? Probably not. But it really depends on so many other factors. What kind of HS do you go to? Big public, super competitive private etc. A 3.3 at one school is entirely different than a 3.3 at another. You have 2 more years to bring it up but you have to really pull it up quickly. Can you do some recovery classes this summer to bring something less than stellar up? What are your extra-curriculars? Are you a minority group? From DC or Montana? So much goes into it all to sum up the competitiveness of all of this. Do you need a waiver (glasses etc.)? You are probably 15 years old at the oldest right now. All is not lost. Set your goals, figure out this summer what you need to get in your classes to get these grades up, take some courses, etc. Start studying up for the ACT.
thank you
Lot’s of ways to arrive at a 3.3 too from mostly B’s a few A’s to a C. You have plenty time to recover either way. Do the summer programs, get leadership, play sports, and like all other colleges, don’t fixate. If you want to be an officer, just as many great officers from ROTC as the academies and probably more based on sheer numbers.
Geography matters though. North Dakota is much easier than VA or MD (for USNA - other academies will differ in specific states but low population states tend to be less competitive).
thank you
Not completely runied. Just get your grades up. Join a sports team. Become the captain of something
