I’m an incoming freshman and I just recently created my schedule. The one problem with it is that on Monday, I’ll basically have classes from 8am to 5pm straight with only two one hour breaks sprinkled in. The upside to this schedule is that on Tuesdays and Thursdays I only have one class that ends at 9:30am and Wednesdays and Fridays I have class from 8am to 3pm but I have about four one hour breaks in between. My classes are not demanding. Honestly the only really hard class I’m taking is Calc 1 and an Intro to Comp Sci class. I was wondering if Monday will be too much for me to handle and if I should somehow change my schedule (although that would mean dropping a class I really want to take). Oh and don’t worry about the 8ams, I purposely chose them. I’m totally a morning person I promise lol.
Like what @Mandalorian said, try it out first. If you find that it’s too much for you to handle in one day, add/drop courses to make a schedule that’ll suit you better and give you more free time throughout the week.
For example, for my first semester of freshman year (literally around this time last year), I used my AP credit for math so I was under credits. I then added a Communication class for Monday and Thursday 7-8:20 P.M. It worked out just fine and I loved the professor and the course. Moral of the story: things aren’t always final.
Not that bad especially if it’s 1 day out of the week that you’re in class until 5. Last semester, I had class from 9am-9pm with only 2 1-hr breaks throughout the day twice a week, so my perception of a jam-packed schedule might be a little messed up lol, but I think you should be fine. Just make sure you’re eating a good lunch during one of those breaks and try to work on some homework or readings at the library during your other breaks. Your evenings should feel much more relaxing after that.
I personally prefer better and more spread out day, but different things work for different people. As long as you have time for meals and you can manage your time, it is up to you. For me I like having breaks in between classes so I can do some study and review for the next class or just to break it up so that it is not so monotonous, but agreed with try it out and see how it goes. Just keep in mind that during the first few weeks, homework is fairly light. So if you find yourself struggling, it may be time to re-evaluate.
Eh I wouldn’t recommend structuring a class schedule like that at least for a freshman. Those long days can become draining if you’re not used to them. But if you believe you can handle it, go for it. You probably have an add-drop period so if it’s not working out, adjust your schedule.
I have class from 11am-9pm (2 breaks) Tuesdays and Thursdays this semester and evening/night classes on Monday and Wednesday
Honestly, I think it’s fine. The good news is its Monday, meaning you won’t have a lot of assignments for the next day that you won’t have already had an opportunity to do (throughout the weekend). I often have a couple days every semester that are pretty dense with class/rehearsal from 9 am-9 pm, and it’s not that bad. You learn when you can do your assignments and work around those days.
