American student applying under the Political Science course, focus in International Relations. Applying to the Arts faculty basically. They’ve mentioned they only look at grade 10-12 marks, but I’m choosing to include 9. They might see 9 marks, because it’s on my transcript right? I’m only including relevant courses, if you see one you think they would not pay much attention to, correct me. Also my unweighted GPA as of now is a 3.7 but I have hopes of improving it.
9:
Gov’t and Economics Honors - 91
English I Honors - 90
10:
English II Honors - 87
World History Honors - 85
French I - 88
French II - 89
Arabic I - 98
Creative Writing - 98
Journalism (taking currently) - around a 96-100 definitely
(Are the first two scores too low for McGill?)
My schedule next year (11):
French III Honors
Arabic II (last Arabic level)
Psychology DE
Statistics DE
Macroeconomics DE
Microeconomics DE
AP English Language
AP US Gov’t
(home school does not have these DE subjects)
12:
French IV Honors
AP US History
AP English Literature
AP European History
I’ve heard Canadian schools want to see math in their last year? So I’m taking AP Calc AB last year if that’s relevant.
The fact that I’m taking French up to level 4, is that attractive to them? I’m sure plenty of American applicants have had French taken, but it’s relevant for my IR course and Montreal is French-speaking. Though, I do know the school is taught in English.
I have a question about ACT scores:
- Minimum is a 29 but will, say, a 32 do me better?
- If me and an applicant with a similar course load and marks applied, but I had a 33 and they had a 29 would:
a) I get admission over them
b) We both get accepted
Also, how does my schedule and marks look for University of Toronto for the same course?
