my passion is music, and obviously millions of other applicants play piano and violin...etc .however do you think founding a student-conducted symphony orchestra at school/ president is unique enough? since i am hoping this to be more that a "club".Hopefully it is successful enough that the school might make it into a class.(provided that it will sound as good as an ensemble with a teacher conducting it?

Founding ANYTHING is pure gold.

But I wouldn't necessarily call it a "hook," more like a decisive "plus" to be used when deciding which of two entirely equal applicants gets in.

yeah yeah mz just because you were the founder of two things ..its gold now..hehe j/k..great job ppl

Another related question: how much of a hook would playing the French Horn be? Would it be closer to being as much a hook as being an oboist or contra bassoonist, or basically meaningless, as in violinist or flautist?

Just curious.

lol, I'm sure all the violinists and flautists on the board appreciated that.

but that's the fact :)

i must agree....im a band geek also :)
