Is it possible to obtain an Honors degree at Fisher and a Honors Mathematics degree at the College of Arts and Sciences? If so, how long would this take to do? Thanks a ton in advance!

I actually know someone pursuing that combination, and he is planning to finish in four years. That said, I have no idea how he is finishing that quickly, and I imagine it would be very difficult to complete two honors programs in majors that don’t overlap in the least.

In order to graduate with honors in math, you will have to remain in the honors program, and then complete an honors contract, which lists the classes you are taking toward your degree. My understanding is that as an honors student you select your GEs off a special list for honors students, which has higher level (more rigorous) classes than the normal GE list. I’m not certain if anything else is different, beyond the honors GPA requirement.

I will be graduating with honors in business, and the process to do so at Fisher is different than it is the in College of Arts and Sciences (houses math major). In order to graduate with honors in business, you will need to apply to and be accepted into one of three fairly competitive honors programs at Fisher- Honors Accounting, Honors Contract, and Honors Cohort. All of the programs are different, but each requires different courses and has additional requirements. I am in Honors Contract, which requires members to have a major or minor outside of Fisher and to complete a few additional honors business courses (as an intended double-major, this program may be worth looking into).

And so, if all that makes sense, you can see why doing a double major with honors in each would be a difficult track. I imagine you would need to spend an extra year or two, or take very heavy course loads for all your time at OSU. If that doesn’t sound doable to you, you can minor in either business or math, which is a very good option too.

Thanks! Yeah that does sound really tough, but hopefully I’ll survive haha.
