Is this enough to get in, in your opinions?

I'm 15th in the class out of 369 with an aprroximate GPA of 95.
3 yrs varsity football
3 yrs varsity wrestling
3 yrs varsity lacrosse
National Honor Society
*I dont't know if this makes a difference but i have a part time job and over the summer I have 2

--Will all the sports overweigh my lack of clubs, etc?

I like honesty and criticism if you don't think I have enough to get in tell me I suck and I won't get in lol, all opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you read a recent class profile at:

Or read this page? http://admissions.usma.edu/startyoung.cfm

These admissions pages may give you an idea of how your stats compare to those admitted in previous years.

thanks for your input, yes I have but I would still like to hear opinions from a third partie prospective.

Are your SAT scores 600 or greater in Math and Critical Reading? If so, and you wow them at your nomination interview, I think you should be able to get in. You won't really know until you try, so good luck!

Have you earned varsity letters? Were you or will you be a captain of one of your teams?

Varsity letter are really important. Only one person of the around sixty who got in from the region I came from did not have one.

leadership in non-athletic organizations is important too. try to get into a club or something where you may be able to be in a leadership position. Even if this means organizing a volunteer group on your own and volunteering together, it shows leadership potential and service to others. Anything that makes the leadership list longer is a good thing. i wish you luck in your application process!

Just make sure it's something you truly care about rather than just an organization to improve your application.

"Will all the sports overweigh my lack of clubs, etc?"
Your sporting participation is great, but remember, WP admissions uses a whole candidate score to rank candidates (60% academics, 30% leadership potential, 10% CFA [physical test]). Your lack of leadership positions (not clubs) is a problem. If you were a team captain that would certainly help. Can you take a leadership role in your NHS?

"I don't know if this makes a difference but I have a part time job and over the summer I have 2"
If you have to work because of home financial circumstances and this limits your ability to participate in extracurricular activities - WP will take this into account.

As others have said, make sure you have good SATs/ACTs.

Whether you get in or not often depends on how competitive your district is. Make your application package as strong as it can be.

Good luck!

you fairly seem well off. I got in with less but at the same time I had eagle scout and some strong athletics and clubs. My GPA was lower than yours and my math SAT was slightly lower then the norm for the average cadet but, like I said before, strong leadership and athletics helped a lot.

through the whole admin process i learned that each cadet's ranking is based on SLA: Student Leader Athlete, or something like that. You want to be about even in all of them, not have to much of a spike in one. you seem to have lots of student but no leader qualifications.

Like the others said I would try and get active in some clubs or jockey for a leadership spot on a team because thats the only thing that could hold you back.

Keep in mind that the "bar" you need to get over will depend (as Anne stated above) on the level of your competition. You need to continue to strengthen your file and also keep in mind that the "bar" will continue to fluctuate up or down with time during the application process. Good Luck.

have good sats/ acts

need leadership roles- captain in one or most of those sports...west point wants students that are leaders in and out of school

grades are good, keep them up...good class rank

as stated before, depends on your region and how you compare to your competition

good luck
