Is this equation true: Music=Sports?

Hi,
I have absolutely no sports.. (I took PE though and
I got like 98%average for two years) However,
I played in the school concert wind ensemble for
all my high school career. I won auditions to get
the bass part for the school jazz band and I did it when
I was in gr10 and 11 and possibly 12 too(im in 11 now)
Also I am in the school vocal jazz group. I have no time
for sports since I have to spare 2 after school times per
week for the jazz band and another 2 for the vocal jazz
and i have nothing only after school on Friday.
How much impact would being a member of school
concertband, jazz band, and vocal jazz make?
Of course i have other EC's but would being in a
three school music groups out of four equal to
being in a soccer, volleyball, and basketball team?
I am going to apply for a highly selective university btw

i.f.f.
music = passion
and
sports = passion
then
music = sports.

P.S. I didn't read your whole post cause it looked kind of long.

You're not applying for the Rhodes. You don't need to have both music and sports, as long as you demonstrate passion in whatever you're doing. Your ECs are fine and show a consistent interest in music; now write about that in your essays. Since you're a junior now and you say you have little time for any other activities, don't sacrifice your music ECs for the sake of having sports on your application (unless you want to try sports, of course!).

I would think so. I'm the same way -- by no means an athlete, but I am in the school band, I score highly at NYSSMA, and participate in youth orchestras, marching band, and DCI next summer. Sure, they aren't sports, but music is a lot to balance if you want to be truly dedicated. You are, as somebody said, consistently interested. Music takes hours of practice, as do sports.

So, in conclusion, yes, music should equal sports. If you are going to music school, they're even better! ;)
