Is this even possible???

Ok my friends older brother just graduated from high school. He was a slacker!!! His final GPA was a 67!!! He wasnt even alowed to graduate with his class because he didnt have enough credits, and has to complete them at summer school. He got suspended from school at least ten or so times a year. He was a TERRIBLE student and just did not care about school.

Now he told his sister that he was going to go to a community college for ONE year, and then transfer to Stony Brook University because he knows some people that can "hook him up" and get him in. (Stony Brook is a good school, top 100 in the nation)

First of all is this even possible? A slacker like him can waste 4 years, and then go to a community college for a year!! and then go to a good school?

Second of all, is that even fair. That people like me and other hard workers, work their a s s ' s off for 4 years, and then got possibly denied to a good school, and a slacker like him could waste his 4 years and then go to a good school.

Please people tell me what you think

Come on people?!!

Ignoring the risk of sounding proverbially cliched, life isn’t fair.

It is possible, and it happens all the time if one has the right connections. Just ignore it and hope that you get in to your dream school on your own merits.

bumpity bump bump

Calm down. Take a deep breath and assess this situation:

 1. We are not positive that this story is or will be 100 percent true. Until this “slacker” gets into college, we don’t know.
 2. whatever anyone else does, you must focus on yourself. If you are hard working, it will pay off one way or another. Then it won’t really matter, will it.
 3. This story is most likely embellished.
 4. Life is not fair sometimes, and there might be times that you will get rejected. In order to safegaurd this, prepare to the best of your abilities.
You’ll be fine.

It is fair. Having good connections isn’t less important than working hard.

Completely possible. Transfer rates from Community Colleges are much higher than acceptance rates out of high school, usually.

It is possible but not likely. Unless this person suddenly makes a commitment to change his entire outlook on academics and turns his life around, he is going to have the same problems at the community college that he had in high school and will not be going to Stony Brook or any other college. If he does turn his life around and excels in community college than I think he has earned a chance for a spot at a good four year college.

'he knows some people that can “hook him up” and get him in"
i bet thats b.s… i wouldnt be surprised if the guy is just talking cuz he’s embarrassed or in denial. besides, i doubt someone can go from the kinda of student he was in high school to the kind of student he thinks he’ll be at a cc. also i think most schools require you too submit high school grades when u apply as a transfer if u only have one year at a cc
