Is this Going to be a guaranteed REJECTION

i want to apply to stanford RD , i think i would be a strong candidate.
but im an international student (india) and stanford has already accepted 1 student from EA
so is there any chance that i can get in.

this person and i would have the same major - computer science
should apply as a different major

or will it even reduce my chances, or will have the same chances as everyone else from my country

bump

Getting into Stanford is difficult, RD or EA - regardless of whoever else might have been accepted. Since you already have someone from your school that was accepted, make sure that you distinguish yourself in the essays etc. Beyond that, hopefully your academics and test scores are on the high end, if not, see if there is time to retake a test. Best of luck! Apply to whatever major your want… but be able to show passion for it through the applications.

Not a guaranteed rejection. Possibly no impact at all.

will the admissions committee know that someone already has been accepted form my school when they are reviewing my app,
my test scores are good enough for stanford
i also do the IBDP and got 40/42 predicted

Of course they’ll know. The person reading the India apps will know everyone who has been offered admission. But since you can’t change it, what does it matter? You’re applying to the 4-yr college with the lowest admit rate in the entire USA – and even worse for International applicants. If your actual statistical chance is 2% or 3% or 4% (which in reality, is unknowable), will it make you feel different?

I think the futility of that should be obvious. If you feel you’d love Stanford and can offer it a lot, by all means go for it – but go for it with eyes open, fully expecting a rejection (I mean, who shouldn’t given its +95% rejection rate?). Apply logic to the application and to your expectations. Then be happy and surprised if something wonderful does occur. That’s all anyone can offer to you. Best of luck to you.

thx, but i can’t help feel nervous whether or not i will have harder time getting in than other international students from my country

btw will u be willing to critic my essay

Your chances are low in any case. Massive amounts of kids with stats “good enough for Stanford” get rejected from there.

no i dont think u answered the specific question i want to know
i no my chances are just next to zero
but lets consider Student A and me
both of us have exactly the same stats and essays
so if student A was in a different school (where no one was accepted to stanford EA)
while i was in a school where someone was accepted into stanford ea
would we still have the exact same chances or would i have lower chances

What people are trying to tell you is that NO ONE has a good chance… what you are fretting about is not going to be a major factor. Just put in your most authentic app forward – expect the rejection, have other schools as backups and then enjoy the journey as best as you can. In the end, it all works out.

sorry if i was a bit arrogant, just super frustrated about how many qualified applicants stanford rejects and its been my dream since 9th grade.

thx guys for ur time

understandable, you don’t come off arrogant… just we are asking you to be realistic… the odds are not with anyone for Stanford. Best of luck though, hope it works off.

thx, hope RD goes well
