Is This going to work out at all????

Ok, im an International whos taking the SATII Us History and unfortunately for yours truly, i cant seem to find the Prep book in my country (no really)... so i found and bought the AP Us History book with tests and all... im sort of new to Us history (dropped the class) but im really planning on studying.. will this AP prep book suffice for the SATII Us History????

haha come on… 17 views???

I would honestly say that a prep book will not be enough without the class. I may be wrong, and obviously if you really cram and memorize facts then you can do well, but most of the kids that I know who have attempted this with just a prep book generally score in the low 600’s while kids who have taken AP US History EASILY score 800s.

I think that an important part of the more general, cumulative World and US SAT IIs is that you understand general trends in history and could have legitimate conversations about the subjects, and these are not things that an AP prep book will really provide to a student who is not independently a history buff.

yeah but my question is: can the AP book(with practice tests and all the explanations) be used instead of the Barron’s book, given that i cant find the Barron’s book

you could probably use an AP book instead of an SAT II book.

Buying a textbook might also be helpful - you could probably find American Pageant pretty cheaply

Definitely get AMSCO- it has all the information you will ever need to know about U.S history delivered to you in a manner that is, dare i say, pleasant to read. I just regret not having purchased this book earlier when I was taking AP U.S history. I Would have aced those stupid quizzes…

Oh, and they ship globally. So as long as you have Internet and a credit card you should be able to get it.

Why are you taking an SAT II in U.S. History when you dropped the course? Why not something that you are more knowledgeable in?

sorry to be mean Lunatic… im doing the exam because i want to… i love history:) and i dropped the course because im taking AP european history and thus i blew my first USH quiz… did well on the Multiple choice part of it though

Well, if you enjoy it, go right ahead!
