I've heard some peole complaining about roommates getting lamps that are really annoying. Is one like this okay:

Here’s the site for all the items banned/allowed in the halls (or wherever you’re staying, not sure if it varies between halls, plazas, and suites):
[What to Bring - What Not to Bring (1001166)](http://map.ais.ucla.edu/go/1001166)

Also, I’d recommend getting this desk lamp instead: [IKEA | Lighting | Table lamps | GLOBAL | Work lamp](<a href=“Products - IKEA”>Products - IKEA)

I have it, and it’s really awesome. It uses a fluorescent tube, only uses 13 watts, and is REALLY convenient. It doesn’t have to take up any desk space, and you can push it out of the way whenever you want. You can just clamp it (clamp included) to the bed post or wherever and it will stay put. I’ve had it for a year, haven’t had to replace the bulb yet.

Oh wow, totally misread your question…
anyway, hope that information was somehow helpful. lol.

But yeah, that lamp I mentioned will probably not be annoying because you can rotate the beam of light and move it around wherever you want. So you can point it away from their bed and just onto your desk if you wanted.

That one is fine, my roommate had it and it was never blinding to me if you ask him to face it the other way.

If anything you can just hide it during room checks.
