Got a packet in the mail today with a USC return address but it doesn't looks like anything else I've gotten from the university. It's promoting linens you can order, and student care packages that include a Student Advantage Card. Is this really from the University? I got my older d the Student Advantage card and found it really wasn't worth it. The care packages are a nice idea, but I feel like this is a ploy to get you to sign up for the SA card. Thoughts?

You’ll get this junk all through college. I guess it’s approved by the school since that must be where they get mailing lists. Got stuff from them at other D’s school too. But stuff is not great quality and you’ll do just as well at Bed Bath and Beyond or Target. I get care package info around each exam time and holiday but even on that I think you can do better on your own.

So not really a scam, just not a great deal.

I agree with SCmom. My kids are attending/attended 3 different large state universities and all were mailed the linen “deal”. When XL twin sheets weren’t as readily available at stores and on the internet, the linen packages were probably more appealing. Only for kids that aren’t picky about what their sheets feel like & parents who are into easy convenience, would the offering now be worth the premium price.
