Is this my dorm?

Check out your "my rutgers page" and click on "my tab" now click on your school mailing address. The address may indicate what campus you will be placed.

CPO Cook campus
BRO Busch
RPO College Ave
LPO Livingtson

etc. see MDS Student Information - General Guidelines for other Rutgers postal codes. I read about it from another person and it works. Good Luck.

DPO WAY

Nice find on the My Rutgers page. That’s my address. It seems they put me on Douglass?

Wow! I never noticed that! Yeah, “nice find” indeed! ::thumbs up::

I was on Busch last year and had a BPO mailing address, but now that I’m on College Avenue this year, I noticed that they changed my box to an RPO mailing address.

So, I guess you’re on Douglass RUTransfer =)

Very nice find

But dammitt I’m on douglass also…all of my classes are on Livingston…what a hassle it will be

^ The REXL (bus) will become your best friend =)

I just don’t understand my luck on getting placed in douglass. At my orientation, the RA represenative said no transfer students will be placed in hotels. Instead, the majority of transfers will be placed in Livingston and only about 200 will be placed in douglass. I received admission earlier than most transfers and submitted my housing application the same day. Further, I put Livingston 1st and Cook/Douglass dead LAST on my application. What shyt luck…

RUtransfer, do you have any class held in Douglass?? I’m wondering if proximity of a student’s class played any part because most of my classes are currently on Cook/Douglass. My classes are not finalized and will all be changed in livingston automatically.

Whoever told you that no transfers were getting put into hotels was full of it. If you look at the move-in guide for the Crowne Plaza, you can see that they have special transfer orientations for transfers living in the hotel.

I have one class on Cook/Douglass. I’m an engineering major, so most of my classes are on Busch.

I was accepted back in March, and my housing deposit and stuff was sent in March 18.

i got DPO which means Douglass so I guess im living there. at least im not living at the cockfest in Livingston…although every single one of my classes are there…

for those who got Douglass. what building are you in. i cant check cuz apparently my vaccines arent in but in case you didnt know this is where u find ur housing.

[Rutgers University Housing Residence Life](http://housing.rutgers.edu/ie/?page=content/NewStudents/Undergraduate/index.php)

Rutransfer, I was told by the head of the residence life that no transfers will be put into hotels. I had a hard time finding the Crowne plaza move-in guide for transfers. Link? And my housing deposit and application were both submitted march 17. I didn’t remember that, but it’s provided on that same link oleosmirf just posted. And no, housing assignments are not posted yet so one can tell you their building oleo.

man that sucks. well us transfers at Douglass (guys that is) can only live at Gibbons if i’m reading correctly as all 4 other options are for Douglass college only…

Okay, I’m not sure what happened. But the move-in guide for the hotel has completely changed from like two weeks ago. Either the one I was reading was for last year, or they just changed their minds.

^ Nope, you’re right. They did mention housing at the hotels for both continuing students AND transfers – back when the lottery number cutoffs were posted. But I guess Rutgers felt it would be pretty wrong to place the transfer students into hotels, which I could understand.

herothydragon: In terms of getting your last choice campus , it’s possible for you to do a room switch by finding a transfer student who was assigned on Livingston (and did NOT want to be on Livingston) to switch with you.

The odds of finding someone – eh, not so great, unless you find someone on facebook in one of the “Rutgers transfers” groups. During the summer before freshman year, I found out I was placed on College Avenue, but wanted to be on Busch. This girl who lived on Busch wanted to live on College Avenue, so I was able to switch with her via a room switch form on the housing site.

Or you can just deal with it. Cook/Douglass is actually nice. I think you will come to like it better than Livingston. I mean, the proximity to classes might seem like an inconvenience, but you’ll get used to it after a while.

mushabloom

you switched off College Ave. mad i’d do anything to live there. Any of you guys get College Ave and want to switch to Douglass I would be MORE than willing…id even help u move…

Hi all - do Marching Band members have to pick up their own keys or does the band director get them for distribution at band camp? I know the band director has asked for our housing assignment - does that mean he gets the key/access card for the band members?

Hey Moxy =)

Band members will have to get their keys at the housing office on their specific campus. The reason why we are asked for our housing assignment is so that the people at the housing office are informed that you are in the band, thus allowed to obtain your key.

After band camp, though, the freshmen members usually can not move in right away (the day of returning from camp), according to campus housing since there will be no R.A. available at the time.

But, you do get to move in at LEAST a day before the other freshmen, so you’ll be able to avoid the mess on move-in day.

For out-of-state student freshmen, you can arrange to stay over with one of the upperclassmen band members for the time being until you are allowed to move in.

Anybody know if RPO 322xx and 327xx are both Demarest addresses?

Hi MushaboomBlue - thanks. One day earlier is better but 8/26 would have been great. So I guess we’ll try for the key on 8/20 after the band camp registration and try to iron out the details then. We went to My Rutgers per the info in this thread, and from the address info there it looks like my son got his first choice of Busch Campus. I read that you moved to College Ave this year? Hope it works out well for you.

Let’s hope that you can move in for 8/26! You might get an email from one of the band student recruiters stating which dorms are NOT available for an earlier move-in when returning for band camp. They will list them per each campus. Thus, some freshmen might be able to move-in even earlier!

So, your son may get to move in the same day if the dorm that he gets assigned is not on the list. So, there is still hope for an even EARLIER move in! Also, you can not retrieve the key **before **camp. You’ll have to wait until you return – sorry =(

Oh! and thanks. I hope it works out too =)

I know this is Douglass. Anyone know what building that is???
