Presidential Scholar being rejected from UCLA?

if it happened to you then I guess it can happen

My guess is UCLA looks at the numbers and USC looked for something extra special (invention, speaks 10 languages, etc.). You must have something very special that you are presidential scholar. Be happy about it.

UCLA admissions were crazy this year. They just had so many applicants. I can see it happening.

i haven't gotten anything from usc and was accepted to ucla...and my test scores are pretty crappy. i wrote a good essay and have good ec's so i think that was my ticket in. I dont think UCLA was only looking at numbers this year. i have a friend who also got accepted and she got in the 1700s for her SAT, but supposedly wrote a good essay too.

Presidential Scholar means very high SAT score. I think UCLA is a public school which means it does not put heavy emphasis on SAT scores because it wants to accept students from all over CA. While USC has slight preference for high SAT. It wants to bring up it ranks and SAT scores are often look at or refer to in the US News Rankings.

Isn't a high GPA the bottom line for Cal and UCLA? I've gotten the impression they're very uninterested in high test scores, which is definitely something that USC uses to sort out the scholarship candidates. I know of a Trustee recipient who didn't get in to UCLA.

^Not always high GPA either. D's friend has lower GPA/SAT than her but got accepted.

idk, i'm out of state. and so is the other girl (obviously lol)

2300 SAT, 3.7 GPA (only 4.1 possible at oos school), 9 APs (5s, 4s), 9 honors class, good ECs, good essay (I thought)

rejected UCLA, "received fall grades" still at USC
I'm thinking the grades count a lot

cyb: sent you a PM
