Hi, so I’m a computer science and biology major (combined BS program), and I was looking at this page right here, specifically at the sample schedule section: https://www.ccis.northeastern.edu/program/bs-combined-major-for-computer-science-and-biology/
Where it says Semester 2: Spring, it says choose one, but I am interested in taking both BIOL2299 and CHEM1214.
Just some extra information, for Semester 1: I am already taking ENGW1111, CHEM1211, and already AP’d out of BIOL1107.
Can I take both the BIOL2299 and CHEM1214 classes in one semester in my situation?
That should be just fine - just make sure you add in a lighter class for your 4th.
Shouldn’t be any problem at all. Shouldn’t even be a particularly hard workload (unless you have Strauss for 2299, who is significantly more challenging than the others)
It’s typed in a bit of a confusing manner, but I think the ‘choose one’ was referring to either BIOL 2299 or ENVR 2290 because they fulfill the same requirement. I took 2299 with CHEM 1214 last semester and it was manageable.
Also, FWIW: I had Dagmar Sternad for my BIOL 2299 class. It was her first time teaching the course so I’d say it was as challenging as I’ve heard Strauss’ to be, like Julian said. Certainly an interesting topic though (human movement/motor disorders) if she ends up teaching it next spring!
Wait, Dagmar was teaching BIOL 2299? Inquiries in Cell and Molecular Biology? That seems like a weird fit. I worked in her lab for 4 years in undergrad, and that’s not really her field. Her PhD is in experimental psychology, but I guess since her primary appointment now is in biology, they can throw that one at her.
