Is this possible or is my life over?

I got a 1500 on my sat. 500 in each section. I have 3 months until oct to get a 2000+ on sats. if i study thorougly and work my butt off with the guides online, will i be able to accomplish it? I just need to hit the 2000 mark. Please shed some hope over here because im dying with fear.

Oh yes, very possible. In fact, I’m trying to do the same thing 1530 to a 2100+ by January 26th.

I have a schedule to achieve this if you would like me to PM it to you.

if you work 6 hours a day, yes. it’s summer. get on that

It’s very possible. I went from 1680 to 1930 in a few weeks and I’m improving daily. But yeah, you basically have to work 5-6 hours a day, no joke. Good luck!

Its possible! Try taking tons of practice tests, learning new vocab, and reading anything and everything :)

There are a lot of threads like this asking if it is possible to achieve X score increase. Strictly speaking, it is all possible, but has varying probability. Sure it’s possible to increase a score 1000+ points, but is it probable? No. Nobody can give you a definitive yes or no as to whether it is possible because let’s face it, not everyone can reach their goal. Am I saying that you can’t do it? Of course not; I’m just saying that the people on this forum can’t give you a perfect answer because we don’t know anything about you.

Anyways, good luck!

yeah it truly depends on you! first time i got 1580 and second time 1710- not happy with either. my goal is like 2100 - hopefully ill do better on october- i just need to practice!

Why not take SAT in Dec/Jan instead of Oct? It’s possible, but you need to work a lot. Maybe use non-Blue book materials til you’re around 600 in each section, and use the best, official Blue Books stuff as late as possible. Good luck

im a senior though. I dont know whens the LAST time i can take the sats before i have to send them in. I also want to take 2 subject tests so I have to study for that too but im depending on crash course books to help me. I also want to take the ACT but i dont think ill have anytime to study. Will studying for SAT also help me for ACT?

^ no, studying for the SAT won’t help you with the ACT. I made that mistake and did so bad on the ACT that I had to delete it. Just focus on one, you might wanna take a practice ACT to see if you do better on it, which, in that case you’d opt to study for it instead of the SAT.

I had a 1830 in june i want to get to 2100 by october its all about putting in a lot of effort and yea its possible

You’re heading into Senior year. Decide now if you’d rather take the ACT or SAT, NOT both. And I do believe you can take the SAT in January for regualr decision, but the scores have to be sent directly to colelges, so don’t mess up! Remember though, subject tests are not required/aren’t as important as many places as the SAT, so plan accordingly.

It’s possible. And you don’t need to study 6 hours a day to do it. Just study hard, but to a schedule that fits for you (and make sure you won’t get bored and start losing your attention while you study).

I raised my score by nearly 900 points by studying in a way that I found comfortable and working nonchalantly, but diligently.

Glad to hear it, im determined to raise my score  I just don’t know how ill manage to make time to study for SAT subject tests. I’m planning on taking Math 1, 2, and a Science, either Physics or Chem, how will i manage to study these? Any books thatll help me learn within a month or two? I’ve taken pre-calculus and physics I honors (Modern Physics by Gioncoli). Any ideas will be great. :)

It is quite possible. I studied for about 2 weeks with the Official SAT book and raised my score from about 1800 to 2160, so yes, it is very doable. Good luck. :)

I’ve heard that math II is fairly easy (especially because of the really high round). As long as you’ve had an adequate trig pre-calc class you should only have to review a little thenight before. And just study a little bit every day. Like I said, you don’t need to go overboard to get a 2000+ score on the SAT. Just take 1 or 2 SATs a week, skim over vocab lists for several 10 minute periods every day, read over rules maybe three times a week (only if you really need it though), and you should be able to raise your score. You should have plenty of time to study for SAT IIs.

Thanks  Any books you guys would recommend for studying each section? My plan is for CR- DH Vocab V1 and V2 and practice tests
Writing- Barron’s Writing Book and the 30 Video Writing bootcamp along with practice tests.
Math - PWN the Math and practice tests.
If you think i should change which books im using or add a couple that would be great please let me know :)

It’s really, REALLY easy to get from 1500 to 2000.
Just:

 1. Read Silverturtle’s guide (and maybe read his grammer guide two or three times)
 2. Read…however you spell it…Noitaraperp’s CR guide and follow it.
 3. Learn a LOT of vocabulary words.
 4. Do some practice on the math section.

thanks  anyone else?

I’m not 2000+ myself, but maybe I can try to give some adequate advice… :stuck_out_tongue:

Also,
Read through CollegeBoard’s Blue Book, take all the practice tests and review thoroughly
I don’t have direct hits, but I have Word Smart, and I’m pretty sure they’re similar, so try to memorize 20+ words a day, and use them in sentences.

I heard Writing improves the most.

If you’re good at Math:
750M
650CR
600W

Or just maintain a 650 in each section. and then work on a subject you are best at
