Is this possible?

I was talking to an alumn from my school yesterday and she attends the Air Force Academy. She was telling me that she wanted to go to the Naval Academy but didn't get in. But what she also mentioned was that she had received an LOA, also received a nomination, and was also being recruited for swimming, yet she didn't get in. Is this possible? Maybe she was mistaken but I found this really hard to believe. It worries me because now even though I have an LOA, I still have a chance not of getting in! Has anyone ever heard of this happening?

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's possible if there was a medical issue. The LOA is predicated on DODMERB acceptance; all the academies have slightly different standards for medical waivers. Not being 20/20 throws her into a different, more competitive pool at both academies.

twofme:Sounds strange to me given she attends the Air Force Academy. It's possible that the medical requirements for USNA were more stringent than the Air Force.

More likely she may equate her fully-qualified letter with an LOA.
