Hello. I am just finishing up my Junior year in High School. I apologize if I’m doing this wrong, as I just created my CC account.
I’m wondering if my schedule for next year is too crazy or not.
This year, my schedule was this:
-AP Calc BC
-AP English Language
-APUSH
-AP Macro
-AP Micro
-DE Chemistry
-Band (cuz it’s fun )
Here is my schedule for next year:
-AP Computer Science A (online)
-AP Environmental science (online)
-AP Comparative Gov (online)
-AP Statistics
-AP English Lit
-AP Human Geo
-AP Physics B
-band (again, fun )
I’m only really worried about Computer Science and Physics, however I am really interested in both subjects. I’m also a bit worried about the English Lit, because English is not my strength.
Due to the program I’m in, I can’t drop any of those except the online ones, but I don’t want to drop any if possible. If I was able to handle 5 AP’s this year (although 2 were easy AP Econ exams) do you think I can handle 7 AP’s next year?
P.S. I’m not very social, so I’m willing to forgo my senior year experiences for this commitment.
Actually Relatively Similar to mine
AP Physics B (Online)
AP Calculus BC
AP U.S. Government
AP Human Geography (Online)
AP Euro. History (Online)
AP Psychology (Online)
AP English Lit
Band
I only took 2 AP’s this past year, Biology and APUSH, so I’m not as prepared as you, but I understand your situation and I think we’re in the same boat. From what I’ve heard, Physics is one of the harder classes to master, so I’m worried about it as well. But as long as you don’t get off track, you should be alright. Like I said, I’m basically the in the same boat as you, so I may not be able to offer helpful advice, but it’s nice to see other people making difficult choices too. Goodluck next year.
AP Physics B no longer exists. It is AP Physics 1 (and 2) now.
It looks like a lot–why take three AP courses online?
Oh, whoops. I get so confused with the different variations of exams. And I thought the same thing, until I took two of them online (forgot to designate that with Macro and Micro) this year in order to escape DE Spanish (i.e. I switched out), and I really like the whole online program in my school. It takes up a period, I get to sit in a nice quiet computer lab and work on whatever I want, and I can earn college credit.
That’s why I really would like to keep all the ones I have if I can.
Physics could be challenging if you have never had physics, but you should be fine if you handled BC calc. I think you could handle it assuming you did well this year
Not crazy if you don’t care about sleep (4-5 hours will be a good night’s). If you want 7+ everyday, then yes this is too crazy
I have to agree with @iubaccounting if you’re not familiar with physics, then it might be a challenge. This year I had 5 AP classes and a biomedical class, plus a 0 period orchestra. I survived, but it was definitely testing at times. I struggled A LOT with physics, and the AP test was a nightmare, considering that my teacher had no idea how to really prepare us, added to the fact that I absolutely despise physics. When I got the AP scores today, I was absolutely devastated that my 3 for the AP Physics test was the one score that disqualified me for National AP Scholar. Sorry if this scares you, but beware if you’re not a ‘physics’ type of person. I definitely admire your drive to take all these classes though!
@zitherplayer That stinks, but in the end, AP awards don’t really matter. They were probably just designed to get people to take more AP classes. I actually just got a 4 on Physics 1, and I got national AP scholar, but I honestly don’t care. The college credit matters way more, and will probably allow me to double major in college in 4 years. I’m very thankful for that, but the awards are meaningless.
Is there another challenging or AP/DE class that you could replace AP Human Geo with? A lot of schools don’t award credit for it and most people take it as their first AP. It’s honestly just an addition to your schedule that you don’t need.
