Is This Possible?

I'm a sophomore in a very competitive school. It's extremely difficult to get into AP US History at my school, and only about 25% of the kids who apply get in. I doubt I got in, but I'm pretty sure I got into Honors.
Is it possible to do well on the SAT II without taking AP US History, or do I really need to be in AP to be sufficiently prepared?

The SAT II subject tests are not AP tests. Although they are designed to test your knowledge of a particular subject, they won't test you on your college-level ability. For example, you won't be required to write essays as you would on the AP exam.

As for the AP itself, some students take the test without taking the course. I don't know how well you would be prepared for it, but, if you really want to do the extra work to study, ask your GC whether you can be included in the test group next year.
