Ever since freshmen year in hs i have always thought that i would go to college and major in business, but lateley i have really been looking at engineering. I like both business and engeneering, but i think what attracts me about engineering is the business/ managment side. So i was wondering, could i go to berkeley and major in civil eng. but still have the option of transferring into haas junior year, if i didn't like engineering? Would taking some of those difficult eng. classes lower my gpa that i couldn't get into haas? And could i meet the pre reqs for haas and be majoring in eng?

Double majoring in engineering and business is possible, but extremely difficult. The usefulness of such a double major is dubious (you can get an mba later on). Ever thought of Industrial Engineering/Operations Research?

I wouldn't want to double major, but i just wouldn't want to get rejected from haas, when instead i could have started an engineering major freshmen year ( and having done all of those pre reqs for nothing and missing out on majoring in engineering).

RockyRoadAhead/phroz3n, does berkeley have Industrial Engineering/Operations?

Don't apply to the UGBA program because you'll have to take a string of breadth courses that aren't related to engineering or business whatsoever (more to just "weed out" potential applicants and give the 50% who are rejected from Haas yearly something to study)
