Hey i am a junior planning to take the SAT for the first time in january. I am hoping to get around a 2100 although i'll be happy if i get a 2000+. IF i do get around a 2100, i am planning to take the SAT again in march to reach my goal of a 2200. However, since the scores of january come out after the registration for march, there is a lil problem. because of this, im planning to register anyways and depending on how i score in january, take the test again in march.

BUT, would colleges know that i signed up for the test and didnt take it? or there is also the possiblity for me to jus take the test as practice and cancel my scores...if i do cancel my scores, will colleges kno that too?

thankss!

No, colleges will not know that you canceled your scores or that you didn’t take the test.

Why would you not want to take it again? 2 Months of prep will help improve any score, regardless of it being your immediate goal of 2100, long term goal of 2200, or something lower, like a 1950. If you’re aiming for a 2200, the schools you’re planning to apply to are most likely very selective, in which case no matter how high your scores are you are not guaranteed a seat.

yeah the thing is i dont want to take this test too many times. if i get a 2100 in january, and get my long term goal of 2200 in march, then i will be done with this test. otherwise, i will study hard over the summer and take it again in october and/or november
