Is this possible?

I'd like to go on to medical school, but would like to major in business while taking the pre-med requisite courses, as well as minoring in theater.

I guess the reason I ask is because those 3 have virtually nothing in common which means many extra courses. I was just wondering if it were possible I could do all that in 4 years, and if many people have done this before.

Thanks!

I guess it will depend on what school you attend. It is DEFINITELY possible to do a business major and go pre med. A minor on top of that may be pushing you into an extra year but maybe not if you hit the ground running your first year.

im doing management with a minor in french and management information systems and doing premed. i only have one more year a class and im done with my premed reqs. i'm going to add other science courses like bio and biochem to boost my science gpa though. i didnt do too hot in my first semester chem.

You need to keep in mind that Med School admission competition is getting worse every year and as it stands right now reguire close to perfect GPA. Everybody also advice to take prep class for MCAT and that is significant time commitment in addition to academics. And there is requirement of all these Medically related activities (volunteering, research.....). Ask yourself if you can accomplish your goal with your planned load. You are the only person who might have an idea. Having said that, my D. and most her pre-med friends have at least a minor (most for fun) in addition to their major. Theater is one of them, my Ds is Music Composition.

"Close to perfect" is an exaggeration. For the top-ranked research medical schools, yes, that's more or less true. For the rest (ie. the majority of MD schools in this country), no, you don't need a 3.9 GPA. A GPA of 3.6 or 3.7 won't exclude you from medical school.

This year was the most competitive in history, however, for the first time in quite awhile, several new medical schools are opening up and over the next several years, it could possibly (hopefully!) become less competitive (again for the first time in awhile).

^ That is very good news! I wonder when it happen actually, if you heard more specific timeline.

I believe UCF and FIU are accepting students during this cycle.

The others I can think of off the top of my head are med schools at Virginia Tech and Hofstra, which are not accepting students this cycle but are due to open up in the next few years.
