So my cousin (soph) was asking me if it was possible for her to raise here sophomore PSAT score of 207 to an eventual SAT score of 2300-2350 simply through studying?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Impossible is Nothing.

My PSAT scores for all three years hovered in the same range (around 210). When I first took the SAT, I scored a little below a 2100. My scores improved the second time to a 2230, and the third to a 2350 (perfect on CR and W, 750 math). It’s definitely possible. Honestly, for me, I have a really short attention span. It wasn’t about studying so much as focusing – checking my answers instead of napping when I finished sections. But I know that for some kids (I tutor SAT prep, so I have a pretty good idea), it is about studying, especially for math (they test the same concepts repeatedly). Admittedly, I did review a few math concepts the night before – the collegeboard has a good webpage with “key concepts” for each score range, and your cousin should definitely check that out. It is far from impossible. Is it LIKELY? No. But it definitely happens, and if your cousin works hard and learns the ins and outs of the test, it is absolutely possible.

Hope that helps.

Yes, with time and commitment, it is definitely possible.

It’s possible but a lot depends on how many of the PSAT mistakes were careless and how many of her mistakes were because she didn’t know.

If she is scoring 200+, then, with studying, 800 on math is reasonable. Writing can be studied for. It’s reading that is hard.

But it is definitely possible. But 2250ish seems more realistic in my opinion.

I went from 1710 in 8th grade to 204 junior year PSAT to hopefully 2250ish on the June SAT. 800M-770W-680CR I’m hoping.

So my stats were similar and it’s definitely possible

My PSAT score was 204, and I got a 2300 on my SAT in May.

Anything’s possible

I know a person who took the ACT four times in high school and scored 36 all four times.
I also know a person who got into Stanford with a 23 ACT.

PSAT is curved more harshly than SAT

Definitely possible.

Yes

I went from a 214 on the sophomore PSAT to a 224 on the Junior PSAT to a 2370 on the SAT
