Due to my other thread stating my tough situation regarding with my no EC and caring of my younger brother.

I want to know if this is possible....?????

Let's Say from 10-11 so 2 Years process Grade I decide to make a club but is not officiated meaning no contact with school. I have members ranging from my friends to my cousins. We meet a couple times a week to discuss ways to bring in money for our project.

We hold garage sales, lawn services and community service events where all the money will go to funding a school supplies/Utilities care package for my mom and I at the end of my junior year to Vietnam to visit my parents native town and to donate the package to the kids. I know my uncle, he is a principle at the local vietnam school. We could get a official document so it can be proof. This is something that is my passion because any thing to help my country is a plus.

Why wouldn’t that be possible? I don’t understand your question.

Because I don’t know if you can count something that isn’t officiated.

yes you can count it. get some proof from your uncle to be on the safe side =]

Thanks for clarification. I hope this will work as I planned.

Also would researching a specific topic on my own be an EC? I wanna research something in between economics and political science.

^ Do something tangible with your research, since I could say that I ‘researched a specific topic’ when I really just Wikipedia’d it :P

Really though. Just find some way to prove that a) you did it and b) you cared about it and c) it actually took some effort.

Would this EC be a way to show passion to ILR program at cornell?

And to be sure this can be an EC even if I don’t have it authorized by school

Extra credits are constructive things that you do in your non-schoolwork time.

Nobody said any of them have to be school-sanctioned. And contrary to what people said, you need no proof at all.
They don’t have time for that. You just put it down, and if you put in a strong enough commitment–that’s what they’re looking for–it’s much much better than a school club someone doesn’t have much passion for.

Thank you so much because I was very worried. Thanks

How about a Online Business? I devote a lot of time to make a 60$ month income where so and so % goes to Vietnam Donation Fund.

And Basketball, even though I don’t play in a sports team. I still practice at least 1-2 hours day at gym or at home.
