I was wondering if the program above is prestigious or anyone here has heard of it and knows of it bring selective or just wanting our money.
My parents are not in the best place financial wise but I want to do something this summer related to neuroscience as I plan to major in it in college. This program sounds prestigious, but it only asked for a 100 word response on why you would want to join. No transcripts or teacher reqs.
If your parents aren’t in the best spot financially, don’t ask to attend this. Volunteer, get a job, see if you can find some kind of local STEM related research or activity, study ahead for your fall math & science classes, take a MOOC. You can major in neuroscience without this.
I already work, and I will pay for a big portion of the price. I still wouldnt like to do a program that just wants my money… would you?
I also volunteer every sundays at my local hospital.
Taking 4 aps, did math 227 this winter at my cc. Taking micro econ (night class) and poli sci (online) rn during spring.
I am also doing research at my local cal state on bacteria growth, a professor I met through taking psychology at my cc this past fall.
Planning on doing physics this summer as sell, and this program is before the start date of my classes.
As a general rule of thumb, the most “prestigious” summer camps in terms of college applications, are those that are free (or nearly so). Why? Because there is a lot more competition for such programs, and when a neutral third party picks up the tab for that, it demonstrates they believe you are particularly investment-worthy.
If it is a program of interest to you and you can afford it, do it. But do it for your own enrichment, not because you think it will look good on a college application.
What is the cost of this program ?
Thanks for answering @chercheur .
The program interests me but I am on the fence about it. I got accepted into it, but I cant wrap my head around what criteria they were using for accepting students… have you guys heard of it? Any negative comments?
@Publisher
hii i also applied to this! i emailed the person in charge of financial aid, and she replied saying that they could waive $1195, so i only have to pay $100…

The program looks great, but it would be outstanding if you could get a financial aid award.
