is this really hopkins?

does anyone else agree that these stats are a little bit off
<a href="http://www.theu.com/admissions_ratings/johns_hopkins_university%5B/url%5D">http://www.theu.com/admissions_ratings/johns_hopkins_university</a></p>

the u is only a vaguely accurate measure of a school's quality. don't take its ratings too seriously

Definitely not very easy to get in to. I wouldn't cal the university as a whole slightly conservative. It's more liberal than not. The food is getting better. It's actually considerably better than when I first visited, and the housing, for the most part is excellent.

Many of those ratings are horribly skewed and if not blatantly, wrong. Their methodology is based upon gathering student surveys, so the population is hardly representative. In fact, I've never even heard of this website before.

Uh a lot of that is bogus for all the schools on there.

according to jhu's newsletter, there is definetely one thing that is completely wrong there...random hookups lol...there goes the credibility of the piece lol

Getting In:
Very Easy

Taken from theU. Clearly, that site has no credibility. Since when has Hopkins--never mind any school of equal academic renown(sp?)--been easy to get into?

By the way, I just checked out theU's take on Penn State. Penn State has around a 56% acceptance rate according to theU, yet ranks as "competitive" on the Getting In section.

Wow, I've never heard about that site but I was just browsing it. MANY of their stats are just completely wrong. DO NOT USE THAT SITE.

Definitely, Pat. I mean, seriously: Penn State ranks as "competitive" in terms of getting in? Give me a break.

So someone sent me a link to this thread and I checked out the site...
...after laughing hysterical for a good 20 minutes I did a bit more investigating.

This site has to be a joke ... or at best I am hoping it is a work in progress. As you all have stated, nearly every school's page has incorrect and ridiculous information. The only page that was somewhat decent was Columbia's, but that is because the founder of the site went to Columbia.

It seems that the rankings of the school are based on student's who submit "confessionals." So to take the Hopkins page for instance -- one student (?) has submitted a confessional and therefore all the rankings of Hopkins are based on that individual's point-of-view. Hence the rating as very easy for "getting in." There is absolutely no way to validate that the student's ranking the specific schools even attend the school currently. In fact the person who wrote the one Hopkins confessional seems to be a person who just likes to continue the myths about JHU.

To add to all that, the stats they list as "freshman class size," "getting in," and "total enrollment are from four (maybe five) years ago. Plus the videos they listed are taken from YouTube. And similar colleges - Yeshiva University????

Hey at least they spelled Johns Hopkins correctly.

At least on College Confidential there are multiple points of view.

Simple advice -- avoid theU.com until it improves its sources of information.
