Is this really true ???

Just to be clear, my only association with MIT is being accepted EA this admissions season. As for the rest of the post, I must honestly admit that I’m really difficult making sense of your comments…apologies.

Hey, I tried to point out that medals are NOT the only way to get in. And what did you come back with “others have said so far that only medals get you in” when the posts in this thread say just the opposite.

So why don’t we all agree and give JainAman14 the “Most Stubborn, Pigheaded, Meaningless Obsession With Medals” medal so he can have his medal to get into MIT. It certainly is his passion.

^ hahahhahaahhaahah … cooooll … !!!

About the guy with no medal from Taiwan who was accepted, I’m pretty sure he had US citizenship and got thrown into the domestic pool.

It could be true or false! However, the fact is many in India are not aware that getting admission to MIT, as an international applicant, is incredibly difficult. It is true that very many applicants with near perfect scores in SAT and stellar academic career get rejected. I don’t think, there is any doubt about it. I had had the opportunity to talk to people who are involved in the process and their reply is “We get the best students from all over the world. We look for outstanding individuals with accomplishments not very common”.

You can always apply and hope for the best!

umm thnxxx Rintu … but the fact of the matter is many actually know how difficult it is … want a proof ?? read the comments which are not only about the post but on me as well … and I am applying from India , so you can say after reading the comments that i understand the gravity of the situation "ESPECIALLY FOR INDIAN STUDENTS WITH NOT AS SHINING STELLAR ACADEMIC CAREER AS WELL " … same as mine …!!!

@mathnerd1 … so what u r suggesting is that it got a lot easier for him right ?? so far no clue on any denying statement ,

@Rintu: I really like your second last line.
“We get the best students from all over the world. We look for outstanding individuals with accomplishments NOT VERY COMMON”.

Hahahahahah, suits my profile INSANELY well.
But I still have very less chance.

@USApplicant …and what might those be ??

Man I have told you so many times. Just wait patiently till I get any gr8 news of acceptance. Telling you this will reveal my identity.

come on dude everyone has sent their apps alright !!! no one is gonna draw that back and post some fake EC just because “YOU” have it … and if you are so interested in bluffing then please dun boast yourself up in front of everyone on any random post that you come across … !!!

Hahahahah.
Dude firstly no one can fake it. I just dont want to tell everyone about it and then end up with rejections from different place.
If this suits you well and good otherwise I apologize for boasting.

and u think if u get rejected they are gonna find u in person and make a fun out of u ?? yeah right … that’s some logical aptitude …

so u eventually get it.
I promise ull be the 1st person on CC who will get to know about it. Ohk?

dun worry … i dun even care about … i have my own probs to deal with …

There are Indian international students at MIT that have not gotten medals in Olympiads.

heyy what ?? really ?? man that’s so coooooll to hear … ohhkk well even i know that u r not a directory or something so i’ll be not asking their personal info. but still can u give any kinda data about 'em ??

The Taiwanese guy was Taiwanese , so he was an international student

I mean, had a Taiwan passport

Sorry to spoil the party JAIN AMAN but I know 2 ppl from india who got into MIT last year who did not have any IXO medals. Also informatics olympiad is conducted in India. Want proof??

Infact the aforementioned akashnil dutta has an IOI silver medal.

I hope this answers all your questions.
