Really … fee waivers are not for internationals in many Colleges my friend !!

@ Aman - one issue you may what to consider is that you are posting and using your real name on the MIT board.

Soo ?? I mean whats the problem if I am telling the truth ??

[Does MIT Offer Application Fee Waivers? | MIT Admissions](Does MIT Offer Application Fee Waivers? | MIT Admissions)

MIT, as far as I know, does offer application fee waivers for international students. So you probably could have applied to another school.

[Do international students (undocumented students) qualify for fee waivers for private university applications? - Yahoo! Answers](<a href=“Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos”>Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos)

As for applying to just MIT and MIT alone; most domestic students don’t even do that! I certainly hope you have safety schools- if not abroad, then in India!

@isleepalone- can you please provide me with the criterias on which transfer students are judged ? i am indian,in class12th. i will be facing boards this march and i will also be appearing for the competitive exams (JEE,AIEEE). i have medals and certificates for many sports and music programs and tournaments however i dont think they will be of any use as they are not national level. i am planning to transfer to MIT from a decent university in india (after second semester) and i wanted to know the basic procedures, scores and other important details required for the same.

So isn’t anybody gonna say anything good or bad ( and I know the bad will be for me obviously) but I think I am looking for some answers or explanations to this !!!

@isleepalone … (that’s a good explaining username) See it is the same point that keeps coming up, on one hand the MIT officials say that its all wrong and not all are medal winners who gets selected and on other hand facts from people like you that states nobody from India gets in without a medal (and again I am telling that someone a student or alum is gonna give me some pretty good advice on this one) but if we combine the two ideas together what does it mean ? That MIT has already set their standards high for Indians … because both the stories are correct, I have seen internationals with no medals and with pretty low SAT scores getting in on the sole basis of their passion and on the other face of coin, nobody from India to support the idea.

@nocturnalduck … ohkk so I could have saved those 75$ and applied elsewhere but elsewhere these policies don’t work. More or less (and I know that you are all going to scream on me again) there is not only the form that we have to submit but other documents as well and seriously I don’t expect anyone to understand this so I am not going to embarrass myself anymore. Sorry for being rude but please let me leave this fees and money topic, at least over here. And Yes I am applying to school in India, that is a must for almost all Indians and as you have heard already the competition is way more tough than MIT or Harvard or other exceptional US Univs.

@PiperXP … I was not lashing out MIT and will rather die than doing this so please understand. (and just for the sake of good “this is getting old joke” I think I have been slashed more than anyone/anything/any college in here and yet … well … we’ll come to that later )

These are not facts. Nobody posting on this thread, other than Chris, actually has access to the historical data showing the qualifications of applicants and admits from anywhere.

Anecdotes are not data, and anyone who comes to this thread saying, “I know two people who applied,” or “I know someone who was admitted” is dealing in anecdotes.

Mollie I was referring to the same point but sarcastically for “isleepalone” so that he does not mislead the applicants with incorrect data or interpretation or assumptions and especially Mr.iceui2 because if he reads all this then this time he will literally banish me from here !!!

Aman I think it might be best if you took a step back from the Internet for awhile.

I banish you. :D

Just in time for SOPA!

I saw AoPS was hosting a Math Jam tomorrow night for those of you lost without reddit, wiki, etc. due to SOPA blackout - might as well learn something! ;)

don’t forget [Why We Blacked Out The Blogs | MIT Admissions](Why We Blacked Out The Blogs | MIT Admissions)

That’s because the blackout was implemented via JavaScript and emergency reading modes were intentional. You’ll also notice (well, not now, because the blackout is over) that mobile access was functional and several other methods of access.

OMG … for two good days my net broke down and look what happened ?? … Man this world waits for nothing !!!

@MITChris … umm I guess I really stepped back, I will try explain my position in a better and more elaborated way soon. Sorry if I annoyed you… :)

@iceui2 … Return from exile my sire, sorry dude I really tried to stay away but my days weren’t sweeter without you. You complete my tank of a big bro’s scolding !! So I wasn’t able to stay away … :D

@nocturnalduck … I ain’t clear whether you suggested me to stay away till the blackout or till this whole SOPA and PIPA thing is over. If the first one is true then I am back and if you were referring to the latter then sorry Its a really really long time for someone like me who checks his software working online perfectly and still try to stay away from CC and MIT Admissions blog

@Everyone … I am really really sorry I got so carried away for a few days, there were really some matters not only here but in my life too which were completely unfavorable for me and … well some others too. So thanks thanks thanks and again a BIG THANKS for all those who supported and brought me back on track especially iceui2 and Chris ( just like the sweetest big bros) and all others too. I will be at my utmost receiving hand from now on.

I am writing - I don’t think you got the point.

hahahahahah … I am saying I got the point but all I was doing was trying to release the tension !!
and as “I” wrote I will definitely explain my stand on that statement but the time now is not apt for me to tell or for anyone to know. Thanks for caring about me so much crazy “MOM” !!

Actually Aman, I am quite concerned about you due to the statement that your life depends on something you have an infinitesimally small chance of achieving and is completely out of your control. I do hope that you’ll see past MIT’s decision and see that life is worth living and do your best to make the most of the circumstances.

My son’s favorite poem is the Attitude poem by Charles Swindoll that simply concludes with : “I am convinced that life is ten percent what happens to me and ninety percent how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our attitudes.”

I thought I banished you JainAman…

Can you please go do something actually useful? I’m serious. MITChris is serious. We’re all serious.

For your own good, please do not reply to this thread anymore (or start a new one for that matter).

Yes, what iceui2 said.
