Is This Reply A Rejection Sign for Full-time Offer?

Hi Folks,

I interviewed with a company(Goldman Sachs) last friday. Since I spent the whole day travel back to school, i sent out thank you letter this morning. One of the VP replied me back within one hour and said "Thanks for taking the time to learn about career opportunities at Goldman Sachs". Is this a rejection sign that they will not choose me to go back?

Also, during the interview, I forgot to ask the business cards of two ladies. Also, another two men, they thought they can't give me their contact information. what should I do? Don't send their thank you note? Really confused.

Thank you guys. I do not know how long I can get their final decision.

I wouldn’t say the response was a rejection, it just means they aren’t promising anything. A lot of people don’t respond at all to thank you notes.

As for the men, if they aren’t giving their contact information to anyone then they aren’t likely receiving any thank you notes, so you shouldn’t be at a disadvantage. You could work around it by trying to find them on LinkedIn and sending a note, or if they have contact information on the company website, but I wouldn’t stress too much over it; it is a polite formality but isn’t a key deciding factor. The thank you note is really just a refresher of who you are and a second chance to elaborate on something brought up in the interview, or correct information that you did not present as best you could.

You should always ask at the end of the interview what the next step is, and when to expect to hear a response. It is usually a wide time frame (a few days to a few weeks), but it would give you some idea of how long to wait before making a follow-up call or e-mail.

Thank you NovaLynnx, it’s my bad to forgot ask about the next step.

Does anyone know how fast Goldman have results?

Another question. Does anyone know how long for Goldman process their final decision?

I interviewed last Friday, do they come up with the decision by the following Monday? Is that why the interviewer reply me like this?

Really nervous about this. I know I should chill about this, but it’s so hard…
