Whoever said that a 2100 is too low for the ivies is a complete idiot, period. A 2100 roughly translates to a 1430 old sat. And a 1430 is surely not too low anywhere except maybe HYP. If you think that SAT is the deciding factor when you get in the higher ranges, than youre obviously delusional.

ashernm- Its wonderfull that you got a 2330 or whatever, but that doesnt mean you give info that is fallacious. a 2100 not competitve for ivies! ha...A good SAT score with nothing to back it up will get you nowhere. Dont give false info if you dont know what youre talking about

To the OP: Those scores are very erratic. The adcom will likely be suspicious of your testing. The adcom is not stupid when they see : M-550 CR-700 W-650 then a M-700 CR-500 W-700 on the second test. Theyll probably think youre intentionally bombing a section so you can improve and do extra work on the other section. Well thats my two cents

right, there is a chance of course without a doubt.

BUT

if you are part of the masses like me with avg ECs and are not spectacular in anything else, it's not enough. if you are a state champ and have your own charity fund, then yeah you have a great chance.

EVEN if you have a 4.0 gpa, AND fantastic test scores it's sometimes not enough, so why would mediocre grades and scores be enough?

(look at chriscuber's post on the first page)

trinya yes if you put down a nationality I believe they look at it. They're always on the hunt for those kinda people to boost their diversty ranking on the US News & World Report.

Please I know how to do math, i go to exeter. You cant take 2/3 of 2100 when you have to consider the added section. Scores will be lower because of the added section. Its harder to get 700's on three sections than it is to get 700's on two. Its better to consider the percentile.

well luxembourg is rare indeed, but it mostly consists of White European people, which is not a boost. I thought you meant a country like "Ghana" or "Brazil"

Xindianx: You're right that it won't hurt him. But it won't help him either, which means he'll have to depend more on other stats and factors. And the score differentials do appear a bit suspicious, as noted by DiamondT.

No no it's not an auto reject, it's a slim chance. There have been people to get in with less than a 1400 SAT. And I'm sure all they had was something else that was stronger, maybe ECs and lots of leadership, maybe a stupendous essay, maybe both. And those aren't even his scores, he said only the top line were his, he has no idea what he might get in the future.

yeah I also think you can do better than that. If you aiming at Ivies you must have reasons to do so. If you have not a good school career, you shouldn't aim at Ivies, unless you score surprissing high on your SAT

matt630, or anyone for that matter, i thought the old sat at harvard can be substituted for the new one altogether, not just CR and math. i took sat 2 writing, but because i sucked it up, i want to get 3 higher sat 2 scores. is this a worthy endeavor??

Do you guys know how to interpret numbers? It seems not. Aside from HYP, and Columbia (nobody understands how the heck their admission process works) the dead average SAT is 1400 or 2100 now... I actually think his numbers are actually FAVORABLE because he has no split between each section, he's just average in every single one of them. BTW, average means half the kids that get in have a lower score than you so... dont lose hope. You have a solid shot at Penn, Brown, Dmouth and Cornell... a bit of a reach to the others but again im only evaluating you based on ONE test score, no GPA, SAT II's, workload, EC, Essays, Recs, Intangibles... a lot of factors come into play.
