Is it smart to be a biology/business double major and be a pre-med student?

I want to know if this is feasible, and if it is how hard will it be?

Thanks.

You can do it if you want..

"How hard will it be?"---> I't won't be hard, but how long do you plan on staying in undergrad?

The traditional 4 years..then I'll apply to med schools and if I get rejected by all of them, I have a business degree to fall back on.

Is it a good idea though?

Well that isn't what I would do. If you are really interested in Med school, you can reapply if you get rejected. I don't know how much you want to go into medicine compared to business, so I can't say much about what I would do if I were you. Just realize that a double major isn't like a minor, it is a whole other major with more requirements which will take a while to finish. You should make sure you could finish in 4 years (if that is your goal) before you actually do it. Of course it will look pretty good to med school admissions committees that you double majored and will give you something different to talk about in your interview. But if you are serious about getting into medical school and are just double majoring because you don't think you could get in, just major in Bus or do really well in school and major in bio.

I have a tough time deciding between business and medicine, but I know medicine is #1. If I do get rejected by every college I apply to, I figured I had a business degree to fall back on.

Majoring in both isn't a problem (depending on what school you go to). Just be aware that a business major, in and of itself, does not constitute a "backup" plan. You need summer internships with finance/consulting firms, etc. Those DO conflict with your premed plans, since you need summer research/clinical experience as a premed.

What would be a good fallback major then, that won't conflict with my premed stuff?

My son will be declaring his major next semester. Right now he is leaning towards a double major ---Chemistry and Health/Exercise Science. He really likes Chem and has already done research his fresh. year and has offer for more next year. The exercise science intrigues him too though and he likes the courses required for the major. He feels that the two may complement each other and also give him various directions to go if he decides against med school or doesn't make the "grade". Any opinions from those of you who have been there? He is not too concerned about sticking to the 4 years and plans on some summer school classes.
