Is this survey for salaries accurate ?

Thinking of going into Marketing / accounting as a major and a minor in international business LMK what ya think about starting salary for the marketing field ... can I make 50k starting out or am I thinking over my head ?
Eventually want to get my MBA from a top program like NU , U of Chicago , Umich , etc.

You are being way too optimistic if you expect 50k (equivalent in today’s money) with a marketing degree. Marketing and management have historically been the lowest paying business majors and will continue to be. I noticed the highest marketing salary on that list was 70k. That was either due to weird circumstance or more than likely was a sales job (and thus included commissions made). However, MBAs from top business schools get paid quite well to do marketing jobs (ie brand management for example)..not as well as mgt consulting or I-banking but still good.

BTW, I’m not sure why you want to major in accounting if u want to go into marketing.

i think that is a very incomplete survey considering the strength of that school’s accounting program.

It’s Illinois Chicago not Illinois U-C.

Yes and Illinois Chicago is still very well known for their accounting program and it is in Chicago - great location for all the firms to recruit, yet the survey shows little evidence of this strength

They did get most of the graduates though didn’t they?
