Spring 2008 was my first semester at a CC and unfortunately I was not able to finish with anything resembling stellar marks. Close to finals, somebody very close to me died, and I had to go out of the country for the funeral and to take care of some finances for them. I contacted my teachers as soon as possible, in an effort to try and do a late withdrawal from my classes, however only one teacher was able to accommodate me, the rest had to fail me (I guess due to the fact I missed the final and one test a week or two prior). I ended up with 3 F's and one I.

This semester, I am retaking 3 of the courses, two I got an F in and the one I got an "I" in (all of these were electives, Phil 100, Anth 102, and Psych 100). The other class I got an F in was Biology and I will be retaking that next spring.

My intent is to transfer to a T50 school as I have the desire and I am an excellent achiever of results when I put my mind to it. Is failing one semester going to ruin my chances in perusing a good education, or can I make a comeback from this as long as the classes I retake have all A's in them and I maintain a strong GPA? How will my GPA be calculated and looked upon by UCLA / UCB if I have retaken the classes with an A or B?

Thanks for your help!
