Son is a junior. He has CSU on his short list. But after reading this article my wife and I AR concerned that CSU is not a safe place for a young man to be. Seems the administration has lost its way. Is this a problem at CSU? https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/due-process-is-still-being-kicked-off-campus/2016/05/13/cbf3ee6e-1860-11e6-9e16-2e5a123aac62_story.html
This was at Pueblo, which is not the main campus. Is he looking at Fort Collins? i would look on their website for their report on violence on campus. I don’t think one incidence should preclude you from looking at CSU. All schools have their incidences. You would not have any colleges to look at. Good luck We are flying from Philly to Colorado to look at the school and are very excited for our son.
We just visited CSU. We never felt unsafe and spent 2 days and evenings there. Go a visit. A great school, beautiful old town and friendly staff. This is our sons first choice.
CSU-Fort Collins is a beautiful campus. We are Colorado local, and to me, Fort Collins always feels like it has the fun, quirky things about Boulder without the safety issues. Traffic is never that bad, the old town is GREAT, and if you’re looking for the big box stores, just head to the southern part of town.
@MumblesMenino The article you read is about boys getting accused of rape which can happen anywhere, even Stanford U as we all know after the famous swimmer story of assaulting an older girl who was not a Stanford student.
As I read the Washington Post article you posted , I feel certain that either they have the story wrong or there is more to that story. It seems very unlikely that boys are witch hunted at CSU Pueblo.
With that, Pueblo is a medium sized town in southern Colorado, and very conservative. Pueblo
was the home of one of our coal fired power plants and has a small zoo and a small downtown. Fort Collins is in far northern Colorado, a much bigger campus, a much nicer more livable city, and more liberal if that helps you see the difference. While the two campuses are technically both Colorado State, they have little overlap and most Fort Collins students never set foot in Pueblo unless they happen to be from that town.
Sexual assault is a problem on all US college campuses today. Colorado State in Fort Collins will not be any different than any school across the USA for that.
Here is the Denver Post coverage of this case at CSU Pueblo campus:

It does agree with the opinion page in the Wash Post for details. Not clear whats going on, but its being covered
by the media widely.
We lived in Co Springs just north of Pueblo and Pueblo is a VERY rough town in general. Reminds me of the Wild West!
