I am currently picking the schedule for my junior year. I want to have lots of AP's for college credit and college applications, but I'm afraid it may be too much to handle. My planned schedule for next year is AP Lit./English, AP U.S. History, AP Chemistry, AP Govt., and Algebra & Trig. What do you guys think? Too much in one year?

No. 4 is not too many.

i have 7....but its up to what u want to handle

Uh, AP US History and AP Chem are your only hard AP's anyway, so you shouldnt have a big problem...

Could someone handle AP Chem, AP US History, AP Physics, AP Calc BC and AP Comp Sci all in one year? I want to do that, but I can also drop AP Calc and Ap Physics. Is three enough for good colleges.

BTW, AP U.S. History, AP Lit./English, AP Chemistry are all 2 semesters. AP Govt. is 1 semester. My school has block schedule meaning 8 courses in 1 year so it's not really possible to take more than 4 AP's in 1 year. It is also the 1st year 11th grade AP Lit./English will be a class.

I have four this year (I'm a junior). I have AP Lang. & Comp., APUSH, AP Spanish, and AP Bio. It's really not that bad, but I have no clue how to go about studying for all of them. The main issue, I think, is going to be studying Spanish and Bio., because it's really not possible to know what's going to be on the test. One pretty much needs to know most of the things, but...I just don't know anymore...

guys that are taking tons of APs: I recommend that you look up the exam schedule on collegeboard.com and figure out what is on what days. Also figure out whether you need to go to any non-APs you might have on the off days.

How to study for a load of APs: (IMHO)

For example, I'm taking AP English, AP Spanish, AP Calc on M, T, and W respectively. Then I have Chem and Microecon on W and Th of the next week.
~I figure I can't really study for the AP English test, other than a quick terminology review, because it doesn't really test facts. I did order the APCD, so I'll probably take a practice test over spring break.
~And in Spanish, we're all doomed to fail (by "we" I mean my school and our very weak Spanish dept.)
~For Calc, I'll be taking lots of practice tests on the APCD that I ordered off collegeboard, and we will have been reviewing for 3 weeks.
~Chem: Princeton review and Barron's practice test; descriptive chemistry (writing tough equations) review in-class.
~Microecon: very little studying--some practice tests.

Basically, if you have the money to buy the stuff, or if your teacher has it, I'd recommend taking the official released exams (each one costs $30). They talk about the exact scoring they used that year, etc in them and have example student work.

The APCDs also have official tests. Sorry if I sound like a spokesperson for the collegeboard, but they did make these tests--thus they're the best study tools.

Also, PR and Barron's are good---I prefer taking lots of practice tests. If timing isn't an issue for you, or if you want to split up the reviewing, I'd recommend just doing 5 questions from a review book's practice test and then reviewing the answers every day.

Sooo....basically, just know how you're going to study in the run-up to the tests. Generally, it's the test weeks and not the classes themselves that push people over the edge.

Haha... I took 10 AP tests last year, and let's just say that I was having bubble sheet nightmares for weeks.

Wow randomperson, I might kill myself after I take the 8th test :( Congrats on surviving. I really am terrified about all the work I'm going to have to do next year, not knowing if I can manage it at all.

$$$$$$$$$$

Randomperson im gana call BS on that... idk about your school but my school only has 9 periods in a day and no AP classes are half a year. Did you take AP tests for classes that you didnt actually take?

I don't think so i'm currently in:

AP Calc BC
AP Statistics
IB/AP Inorganic Chemistry [HL for those IB folk]
IB English [HL]
IB History [HL]
Wind Symphony

Its a lot of work but if you have good time management very very doable!

Drummerboy, what school do you go to in Newnan?

Sigh I'm taking 10 AP tests this year too!

Bio, Physics B, English Language, Calculus AB, French Language,

English Lit (re-take), Italian (self-study), Art History (self-study), US Gov/Pol (self-study), Comp Gov/Pol (self-study),

And a partridge in a pear tree (... lol I suppose that rhymes with AP).

I got AP Scholar With Distinction last year. Obviously I'm shooting for AP National Scholar. Good luck to you all!

-Jon :)

i'm takin 5 APs this year, 5 next year.

this year
AP Chem (easy to the point of blow-off)
AP Stats (should be easy, but teacher is ridiculous)
AP USH (not too bad, lots of busy work)
AP Physics (not too bad, cause teacher is awesome)
AP Lang and Comp (hardest class (have a B in it) just because teacher is ridiculous)

Next Year
AP Bio (heard pretty hard)
AP Calc BC (heard VERY hard)
AP Govt (heard decently easy)
AP Spanish 5 (heard a lot of work but not too bad)
AP Lit and Comp (heard VERY easy)
