Please help!! i'm so scared omg....

I don’t think so. I’ll be taking 5 classes first semester and 6 second to clear 32 credits. Having two labs may be a bit too much, though. You also have chemistry and biology together.

Thank you, JscalesJr!
yea… I 'm kinda afraid of two science classes D:
and that is why im scared of my schedule.
BTW if you think those 5 classes are ok, then
would you recommend me to join in fall sports??

Why not? It would provide for break between studying and you could meet new friends that could help out if you have a problem understanding a concept in any class.

The first year experience class will barely even count as a class. In most schools, it’s more oriented to simply going to the lectures. You might have to take a few simple quizzes and do a couple simple take home work sheets. In mine, I had to write two papers. One was just one page, and the other was two pages. The first one was basically just writing a little bit about myself, and the second was just an outline of my rough college plans. In my FYE class, both of the papers were actually optional. The first shorter paper was called the “B” paper, because if you wanted a B in the class, you had to write it. The last one was the “A” paper. For all practical purposes though, that will barely count as a class.

The other 4 classes will still make for a fairly challenging freshmen yeah, but it seems manageable to me. I’m looking at my schedule for this coming fall and cringing…Chemistry, Physics, Calculus, Anthropology, and Spanish. Should be all kinds of fun…lol

JscalesJr,
wow you really think and see in good ways!
What i was thinking about the sports was
because of the sports, I would be rushed in time,
and my study will be interrupted.

But after your opinion, the pros to join in sports,
I changed my mind and see the good sides! haha
Thank you soo much JscalesJr!!!

comfortablycurt,
Thank you so much for telling me your experience of FYE
cuz I had no no no no idea about the FYE class :stuck_out_tongue: hahaha

I don’t know whether my schedule is manageable to me or not
but I will try! thanks!

You’re quite welcome. Obviously the FYE class is going to differ from school to school, but it’s usually basically just an orientation, easy A type class. When I took it, my section of it only met once a week for 4 weeks, so we only actually had the class 4 times. But, each time we met it was for like 4 hours.

That schedule will require some time management, but it doesn’t seem too bad. It’s usually advisable to take a lighter schedule your freshmen year so that you can ease into the swing of college, but if you’re motivated it won’t be too bad. The two lab sciences will make for a busy schedule, and the papers for Eng Comp will definitely take up some time, but it’s manageable.

Orientation class sounds pretty useless, so that probably won’t take much time… you’re still on the high end with units though. Most freshmen go for 14-16 in their first semester I think. It’s not totally unreasonable, so try it and see. Make sure you know the drop deadlines, and if things are too much at the start of the year (remember, it’ll only get busier later in the year), drop whatever’s most time consuming or least important. Same goes for sports, if you want to do it, go for it. But if you find it’s too big a time commitment, you have time to figure it out and change your schedule.

What college is this ?

Why is Calculus 1 5 credit ?

That’s a very good question. I didn’t even notice that. Calculus I is typically 3-4 credits, depending on the school. Most usually 4 in my experience.

Orientation is a joke, so that won’t be hard at all. I would not take chem and biology together. You will burn yourself out. Its better to take a balance of electives and classes that count for your major, or mainly pre-reqs in case you change your major.

Yikes.

Chemistry, Biology and Calculus in one semester will be very rough. The science classes alone will take up a huge chunk of your day. Chemistry is horrendous…

You know your ability better than we do but i’ve seen a lot of ppl break from just Chemistry 101 and I go to a reputable school.

No, I took nine classes my first semester, you’ll be fine!

Don’t screw up and you’ll be fine. Chemistry was a weeder course.

Nine classes!? Damn! Just out of curiosity, what classes?

I don’t think there should be any problem. Just attend the classes :)

lol, i’m actually not surprised by most of these replies but then again, this is a site where ppl call their 3.7 GPA’s low.

The bottom line is that if you self-identify as an “average student”, then the courseload is too much. If you consider yourself an above average student then you can scrape by. If your a top student then you would have no problem (but will still have to invest a lot of time).

I would double check that taking bio w/o having taken chem is fine. At my school, neither class has any prerequisites, but students without a background in chem equivalent to AP are encouraged to wait to take bio. Maybe replace it with physics, if that’s something you need or want to take.
