My mom says that I'm "spreading myself too thin" this summer. What do you guys think?

I'm planning on..
-Taking a math class from June 28 - July 30, M - F, 8:30 - 10:30 A.M
-Self-studying chemistry
-Working on environmental stuff with my city
-Doing pre-AP work for English & U.S History
-Taking Practice SAT's & studying a lot
-Writing a lot..I'm entering the Scholastic Novel competition in March
-Vacation for 1 week in August
-Practicing photography
-Practicing guitar
-Preparing for other classes I'll be taking (psychology, precalc)

i don’t think that’s too much. it’s not like the activities have any deadlines or anything. you just need to get your priorities straight, but i think you’ve named them conspicuously already

Yeah, you’ll have time to have fun.
Then again, most of the things SHOULD be fun that you listed…

I mean, if those aren’t fun, why should you do them :)

Visit Cal Newport’s Study Hacks and search for the “autopilot schedule”.
You work hard for x number of hours y days a week, and when you aren’t working you just chill and do anything else but work.

Well I wouldn’t say that’s “too much”, I mean, you don’t want to be lingering around at the mall for a week because you’re bored or end up on the sofa watching reruns etc.
That sounds like fun and as if it would be interesting, but you also have studying for your classes, and the math course, so it is pretty balanced and not all tedious work stuff.

It sounds alright I guess, but you should make sure that your range of experiences widens throughout your high school years, summer especially. Obviously academics are your thing, so communicating with people, sharing ideas, etc. are important. It would be cool to use your 2 1/2 months to learn some more school material or whatever, but that’s not necessarily going to be in your best interest down the road. However, it is really good that you’re involving yourself in your community and practicing your writing, photography, and guitar. Those are the more important things on your list, in my opinion.
