Is this too vague?

Could someone please read my "Why Columbia?" essay and let me know if it is too generic?
PM me if you are interested!
Thanks!

Hey PM it to me..i'll be glad to help you out.

I'm happy to read it for you if you'd like :)

hey, it said you exceeded the mandated # of PM's, so I can't send it. Can you delete some messages or give me your email address

sorry about that. Try again..i deleted a lot of my messages.

ok I just PM'ed you! Thanks so much!

I'd also like to read it over.

though it is very early in the application game....i would advise you to be very careful about who you are sending this to! You don't want to be sending it to other HS students who might use your ideas. This advise goes to anyone who is asking others to read their essays online.

ok thanks for the advice! I'll take that into consideration.

i'll take a look at it.

I'll gladly read it!

If you think it may be too generic, it probably is.

if you can't talk about anything more specific than: (1) "The core is awesome" and/or (2) "New York City is awesome!", you need to do more research on the school and more thinking about why it's a good match for you

I haven't read any Why Columbia essays so far that are not generic (mine was too, btw). Don't know if that makes you feel better, but you could talk about a specific department or a specific prof, that wouldn't be specific.

send it to me; ill be glad to read it. PM me asap

its pretty vague/generic and repetitive, and it's not well organized. I would say write a completely new essay and just put this one away(don't look at it while writing the new one..or you'll end up with an only slightly improved version of the old one). Do some research and figure out what(specifically) about the school you like. And never use ''one's'' or 'him/her'..always make it about yourself- I, me, my. Make it much more personal- it's too generic.

Agree with racnna.

Also, dude, take Shraf's advice; do NOT send your essay out willy-nilly because some of the people on this board ARE applicants... especially those who ask for it ASAP and sound sketchy.

Just a little caveat.
