Is this topic good enough for my prompt?

In my English class, we're writing a college application essay with the real prompt from a college, so I want to use this essay for my college applications, since I suck at writing.
Here's the prompt:
There are many situations in life that do not turnout as anticipated. When we experience those situations, we learn life lessons such as how to handle disappointment, deal with adversity, set sights on a new goal, and persevere. In these situations, we learn a lot about our strengths and how to overcome disappointment.
Describe a specific situation where you have not been successful and explain in detail what you have learned from the experience.

I want to write about how I was too lazy in high school (which will explain my bad grades (A's & B's)) and I learned to work harder and all that junk, but I'm not sure if that's specific enough. It says describe a specific situation and my whole high school career is very broad. Do you think that would work though?
I really can't think of any specific situations where I failed, but learned a really valuable life lesson.

This sort of topic is very common, so I’d say it’s better to find one specific moment that changed you (ex. a classmate/ event that influenced you to work harder). You can even zoom out later in the essay. This will also sound more interesting and believable instead of “After all my struggles in high school I realized that I have to be more hardworking”.

Yeah. I agree with the above. You have to at least have some specific start. Or you can do what a lot of people do and explain how you haven’t had that moment yet and want to get that moment in college. You can be like, nothing super extraordinary or life-changing has happened to me in college, etc. I think that could work, but you have to write it really well otherwise it won’t work.

Food for thought.

I figured it might be too broad, but I’m not sure how I can write a whole essay about not being successful yet.
I’m not sure what I can write about. I must have failed at things before and learned things, but I can’t think of anything good for some reason…
