is this true?

PEIS is one of the harder majors to get into at Berkeley - comparable to Business. If you are transferring from DVC the three things they will look at are GPA, SAT scores and your essay. You probably want your GPA no lower than a 3.5 (higher would be better) and SAT's 1400 or better. I think the letter counts the most. They are going to have multiple applicants for the same spots with similar GPA's and SAT's, so it is the only thing that will really make you stand out. You want to highlight all the interesting/unusual things you've done and explain why they should choose you over everyone else.

probably not huh? doesn't seem right..how could it be comparable with business?!

i heard that major is so much easier to get into than what this guy is explaining to me.

by the way, these are the words of a guy who majored in the political economy of industrial societies 10 years ago.

since when does berkeley look at transfers' sat scores??

isnt peis in the college of l&s? if so, admission into the major is not much different from admission into other l&s majors (re: competitiveness)

PEIS is impacted; transfer spaces are capped.

what do you mean exactly by 'capped'?

Exactly what I said. Spaces are capped. I think there are 20 or so spaces.

how do you know how many space are available? are you just guessing or have you heard or what..

It's in Berkeley's information for counselors regarding transfer admissions. Call up the office and ask yourself. PEIS is impacted in that not anyone can just declare PEIS even after you get admitted as well.

k thank you

i have a question, but what's peis?

^^Political Economy of Industrial Societies

Isn't 20 a little small?

yea, 20 just doesn't seem right
